LG plasma TV won't power up. Don't hear that loud click of relay

I want to try to make a long story short, but need to give a little background. I have an LG plasma tv, model DU 42PX12X, which has a well known problem with its control board. There are extensive posts about the problem on this site and others. I've pulled the bad board and attempted to re-solder bad connections on an integrated circuit that's been identified as the problem, but in the process I've developed additional problems. First my remote control quit working, but I can find no connector that's loose or any other reason why the remote would quit working as a result of opening the back of the set, moving the two large AV boards out of the way, and accessing the control board. Other than checking all connectors and fuses, I have no idea how to troubleshoot the remote. Worked fine before opening the TV. While handling the TV, I accidentally pushed the power button that's located at the bottom left of the screen, but that's it. Can't thing of anything that would cause the remote to go out. I've re-checked the connector to the buttons at the lower right of the screen, which also connects the infrared eye, many times with no luck.

My second problem is that the TV will no longer power up. I ran the TV several times with the AV boards moved out of the way and several connectors disconnect, as suggested by a poster on this site, and I had no problem. The last time I did this and attempted to see if my soldering had repaired the control board, I did somethign different. I unplugged a couple connectors to the AV board that I hadn't unplugged previously with the TV on. One of the connectors was to one of the fans, which I understand could cause the power to turn off. That's what happened; TV was on for just a minute or so and then shut off on its own. I've reconnected the fan, and all other connectors, but power won't come on. I've checked and re-checked all connectors, and all fuses that I can see, but no power. When I press the switch, one of the red lights on the AV boards comes on, and I can hear humming from the main power board, but I do not hear the usual loud click from a relay or whatever it is that you usually hear a half second or so after turning on the TV. Any ideas about the power and the remote will be appreciated. I have the new control board installed.

SOURCE: LG DU-42PX12X Verticle lines of various colors, and widths throughout the screen.

Check within you area for a reliable LG repair center. To fix the problem of the blue, red or green vertical line you just need to replace the control board PN 6871QCH038C. The part cost about $150.00 and a honest repair center should not beat you up to bad on the labor. Good luck and Good viewing.

Unfortunately, that board is the inverter board. And for this model the inverter board is only supplied with the the PDP panel. The panel is quite expensive, here's a link if needed:

Check the controller board, 6871QCH038A. This board is one layer deep into the assembly after the cover is removed. Gently lift the covering circuit board back plane to access.

To do this direct a blast of cold air unto the large chip in the center of the board. If the picture comes back on then you have found it. This means powering the TV while open and this means danger to the novice. Voltage can end your life when you become the circuit path.

Order Part number 6871QCH060Q as the suitable replacement part to this circuit board.

I have an LG 50 PA6500 plasma tv that will not turn on. All I hear is a repeated click sound. relay

That is more likely to be a power board issue. Most common is a swelled C802 box capacitor on the power supply board. Take a look at that first. If looks even slightly buldged or bubbled, replace that board first. Otherwise a short on any board can cause the relay to click. The control board is least likely to have a dead short

I've replaced every board on the samsung plasma and still clicks

What do you mean by clicks? Plasma televisions are hot cathode ray, there is thermal expansion that takes place due to heat.

Lg 42 plasma - loud bang/spark smelly smoke and small flame inside.

It is a short circuit caused by some components and/or power capacitors. This may need assessment by a qualified service technician.

Lg 50pq20d plasma tv not switching on but voice comes out

Aside from checking the fuses it likely will require a technician or a shop to examine the set to see what is wrong and what needs to be replaced.

Sounds like a power supply issue but that would need to be checked.

My LG Plasma television DU-42PX12XC had a loud pop

Your tv contains protection circuitry that would shut down the tv if the ymain was out. If the ymain had blown, you'd have no sound and just a flashing standby light. My gut tells me you need to replace the Power Supply Board (PSB). I've seen this before and after spending too much money trying to diagnose a ymain failure, I was surprised to learn that when you have sound but no picture, the psb is a gonner. Try ebay, shopjimmy.com or discount-merchant.com for a replacement.
Good Luck!

I have a 42" lg plamsa tv the screen went black and still had sound.. found a blown fuse on the board to the right of the power board, when i replaced the fuse,it will power up and then 5 seconds later i...

The fuse you have replaced would have been on the sustain board, now that it clicks indicates a problem either with the control board or the sustain board. You would need to disconnect the connector from the power board to the Y-sustain board (left of power board) to check if the Vs & Va voltages are present, if so then the power supply will be working ok & the problem will be with the previously mention boards. There is the possibility that the plasma display screen could also be faulty.

My lg plazma has loud pop at start up

You may have problem with the power supply. The only thing in a TV that can make loud pops is high voltage. There are seriously HIGH VOLTAGES in a plasma TV.
I WOULD NOT OPERATE this TV until it has been checked by a qualified TV technician. The pop means something may be shorting. If it shorts to the frame, you can be seriously injured.

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Our LG 50" plasma tv screen went black after a popping noise but still had sound, after great diliberations decided to take the back off and have a peek!
We unplugged the tv and tested the fuses (there were three we could see) one had blown, the one on the left as you look at the back of the tv it also has one above it. We wrote the code/seriel number down and took the fuse to the electrical wholesalers Maplin and bought a pack of 10 fuses for £1.29 replaced the fuse in the tv and everything now fine!!!!!!
Hope this might be of use to anyone whose lost the picture after a loud popping/snacking noise but still has sound.
