Oven will bake or convection bake to 290 but nothing higher on my GE Profile electric range, 7 years old.

Hi

This means a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

The LOC on messsage appears on the screen when we go toturn the oven on. NEED the OVEN. What could we do to fi it?

The control lock has been activated. This feature is useful when you are cleaning the panel so that you don't accidently start the oven or the self-cleaning cycle. Try pressing Bake and Broil Hi/Lo together for 2 seconds (or a bit longer). SF should appear in the display. Then press Self Clean and Start. (When you press Self Clean the LOC message should disappear.)

Manuals for most GE appliances are available here: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/ . Enter the model number and click Submit. The direct link to the manual for the JTP18WWWW is: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=981140017.PDF .

I hope this helps.

"door" appears when selecting bake or broil.

First take the door latch lever and push it to the left with moderate force. This may re-align the switches inside. If that does not correct the problem replace the door latch switch.

Panel of GE profile gas range says 'LOC ON', how do I remove or reset?

This is the controlled lock out mechanism so that your children cannot play wilth the controls. Press "0" and "9" at the same time and hold them until it says "LOC OFF."

Bake button doesn't work even after ignitor replaced

While unlikely, the ignitor in theory could have damaged the ERC (main oven control) it is more likely you have a bad keypad. Try pressing and holding bake and broil pads at the same time for 5 seconds and see if the display shows SF (will look like 5F). If it does, press the start button and try again bake again

GE Profile JGB97 Self Cleaning Oven Controls won't work

It sounds like the controls have been placed into a lockout mode. If your model is a JGBP79 do the following:
1) Press the BAKE and BROIL HI/LO pads at the same time for 3 seconds until the
display shows SF.
2) Press the SELF CLEAN pad. The display will show LOC OFF.

Now here is where the directions are kind of confusing, I will give it as they say it:

3) Press the SELF CLEAN pad again. The display will show LOC.
4) Press the START pad to activate the control lockout feature and leave
the control set in this special features mode.

Seems to me if its locked already, you would just do steps 1 and 2. And if you wish to lock it do steps 1 thru 4.
