A read-onlyfile can be opened and read but no changes can be saved over theoriginal file. This comes in really handy for documents, spreadsheets, and other sensitive files that you don't want messedwith.
Files on a CDare read only since you can't modify them while they are on the CD.If you want to change them you must transfer to your computer thenuncheck "Read Only" in Properties. When you transfer a file from CDin Windows 98/ME it stays read only, so again, you need to "un-readonly" it. (Win XP is smart enough to undo this whentransferring).
To undo readonly, right-click the file and select Properties (orAlt+double click) from the resulting menu.

I can get to the video files on my computer, however my computer will not read them. Any ideas how to fix this?

.Prg files are database files. They could be associated with an indexing system for that camera. They are not in and of themselves a video file.

IMac won't read Imation 160GB Apollo 2.5

Mac's won't read windows format disc, even if it's capable of reading the files wich I believe Newer Mac Operating Systems CAN DO, it can not read the file SYSTEM used to place them on the disc. You need a third computer. Put the files on a nother computer or two if you need the room or on another media or pocket drive. Use a program that VERIFIES the were moved without errors while copying them, the use the Mac to format the now empty disc drive and download Mac Pooler, or File Stuffer, and copy the files back onto the disc. Now the Mac will be able to read the drive they're on.

Decrypt my WD passport 750 G

I would suggest the solution here is to decrypt the drive altogether allowing you to read your files on other computers. Good Luck. George

The File Can not be read to other computer

Hi,

This issue probably come from your file system. For example, Windows cannot read file written on an OS X partition.

So if you are on windows and you want to read a file from an os x system, you can put the file on an usb stick (formated in FAT) and them read the file stored on the usb stick with windows.

On os x you should be able to read windows file system anyway.

Maybe more precision would be great if this doesn't answer your problem.

I can't open a bundle file from one computer to another

1) after copying it to the new computer, right click and hit the properties tab. Make sure that you UNcheck the read-only tab and press apply when your done. For some stupid reason GT-pro 2 will not open read only files. I had this problem many times when backing up to cd since the files on the cd were read only.

Quicken Data File

just copy it to hd, open properties (right click file and choose properties) and uncheck "read only" attribute.

you will have a normal file again.
remember that every file burned to cd, will receive the read only attribute.
