If it's a Mitsubishi, reset the system with the remote: TV Menu followed by 1,2,3, then reset it again with the System Reset button on the front of the TV. Hope this helps.

How are you hooked up? I.E. terrestrial, satellite, ?

If the channel on HD isn't strong enough to pull the signal, sound won't play because it isn't locked. Because you have sound on non hd it is a signal issue not the tv.

No sound on NON HD channels

I had the exact same problem on a brand new Insignia 26 " LCD with DVD. Comcast tech was able to fix it by changing the Comcast box diagnostics. Here is what he did. Using the Comcast remote with the TV on - press power, cable, menu in that order. A comcast diagnostic srceen will appear. Select Additional HDMI options, then audio options. Change the audio options to L-PCM. Press power again to exit the diagnostics. That will fix it and you get to use the HDMI cable.

Blink on Sharp Aquos LC-32D43U

If your using a HD converter box, there is usually a blink when switching from an HD channel to a non HD channel. It is just adjusting from different pictures modes such as changing from a 480i channel/show to a 1080i channel. If this is the case, its perfectly normal.

Sci Atlanta 8300 DVR HD sound in HD channels soft - analog channels OK

Experience has shown that with this relatively new mode of transmission, audio levels can be quite dynamic. If your set provides it, you may try turning on "Audio Compress" or whatever the name might be. Could also be called Dynamic audio also or some such. Reason for all the hubbub is that along with HD, mixing engineers are also providing the most range for the audio dynamics as well the most video composition info in the new broadcasts...Accordianman.
