Palm lifedrive frozen 'secure erase'

Hi,

My Palm Lifedrive is suffering from a froozen screen when trying to start a total reset ( secure erase). This by sliding the button above & putting the stylus into the resetpoint + pointing the 5way downwards. I can hear the harddisk for some time. The screen shows the light blue banner with ' secure erase in 6 languages'. The black indicator does not show up.
And now????

Thanks in advance for helping.

The unit comes on with th battery charger connected then goes to a palmone screen. It won't shut off until the battery goes dead. I have tried a secure reset and a ouick rest. It goes to a banner saying the type of reset but no progress meter and will not do anything but sit there.

Yes, replace the hard drive with a new micro drive (easier?) or flash drive. If you do not have update 2 already then it's too late for the alternate reset option. I suspect your micro drive is finished, fried, kaput! I'd enjoy hearing an alternative solution, if there is one.

You may be experiecing failure of the microdrive. Those are typical of it failing or having failed.

Having said that have your tried the hard reset buy holding the 5 way down while sliding the power switch? This is slightly different than the older secure but you need the update 2 to have it. This will erase and reformat and reload the entire system a bit more thouroughly than the older secure erase.
It might get you out of the cycle which is more important.

I have a Palm LifeDrive. It has data belonging to the clerk that sold it to me. How can I erase it, so I can install my data (for example I need to erase all the passwords the guy put on the Palm, because...

To wipe all user informations from your device, slide and hold the power button to the right, and whilst keeping it in that position, briefly press the reset pin with the stylus pen (or, if it is missing, a paper clip would do). Release the power switch only when the reset screen comes up. Then, press the D-pad's Down key. This process will take some time (up to 25 minutes).
Hope it works for you.
By the way, if you happen to miss the LifeDrive user guide, feel free to download it from this location.

Palm life drive frozen on "palm one "screen

When you see the first screen (the orange one) hold the UP button as the bar moves across the bottom of the screen. Let go right before the screen goes to the silver logo. If it continues and opens Prefs, then you need to delete the program causing it to reboot. If that doesn't work, do a Hard Reset. A Hard Reset will erase everything on your lifedrive, so only do it if you have to. Hold the Power Button while you push the reset button. Continue with the instructions to finish erasing your device.

Lifedrive won't start. Neither will it reset,

Unfortunetly that usually indicates the harddrive has failed on you. Try a power on hard reset. It is the same as the hard reset but the power need to be plugged in as well.

If you look there are several places that will replace the drive with either a new drive of a compact flash card. The card is the way to go as it increases battery life but is about 10x faster acessing stuff.

Wifi connection issues with Palm One LifeDrive

It sounds like you need to setup the network settings on the palm or the wep or securty key or both.

When it shows the network id tap edit then enter the wep or wpa key if needed, then tap details to get to the screen where you enter the normal network details.

Usually it is just the security key that causes this. Get that code in and you might pop right on.

HI there,

Normal 0 The best thing I can offer for you to do is to go to the free palm chat service they offer. I have used this and it worked good for me. Here is a link to the free chat service. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a Palm Chat. From there click on the link that says Chat Now and follow the online prompts. Best wishes...I hope this will help you.

Palm lifedrive wont' boot stuck on palm screen

This sounds like the issue where the LifeDrive is stuck in a loop. You can see how to break the device out of the system loop on the Palm Knowledge Base article (26419) located HERE.

Hope that helps get you up and running again!

Lifedrive sick

Try a hard reset and if that doesn't work ( the erase program hangs up), then your hard drive is dead and must be replaced.
