Im having problems installing win server 2000 on my two dell poweredge 2500's.
the install will be fine untill it starts to install the devies it will freeze at about 30%
Hello,
Make sure the hardware is compatiable with Server 2000. Most of the time you will run into a stale if hardware is not compatiable or windows does not have a compatiable driver for those devieces. If you have the drivers for your hardware, install those at the begining of the server install. (You will see at the bottom of the screen press F3 to install 3rd party drives. After the drivers are installed, you should be able to proced.
Good Luck,

No, you should not have to use f3 if everything is good with the HAL (compatibilty) My next suggestion would be make sure you are not connected to a network while performing the install and try again but let the system run for a while to make sure it is not just formatting the hard drives. If I may ask, are you performing a freash install? Did these server have an os before? Are these two server getting the os installed at the same time over a network connection?
It's been a while since I worked with Server 2000 (nothing wrong with it, just been a while.) I will continue to go through some of my old notes to try to resolve your issue.

even tho i have used the cd do i still need to use the f3 key
yes im doing a fresh install, the servers used to have 2000 server on them before but had to replace hard drives. they also arn't connected to a network.
