My model 120 Husqvarna Viking sewing machine will not start sewing with vigor. It lugs through the first two minutes of stitching with virtually no power then very gradually picks up speed. How do I fix this problem? Where can I get a REPAIR manual for this machine?

I would clean it, especially Under the feed-dog. With a toothbrush, clean out all lint and threads from before. Your Excellent machine is struggling to do what you want. Dad taught me to clean sewing machines, way back. No matter the make, they all want to be free of 'stuff.' Hope this helps.

Repair manuals are available only to Husqvarna Viking authorized dealers. However, I have seen some on ebay from time to time. Sounds like your problem could be several things - binding of the internal drive shaft which may have a build up of grease and lint which unbinds as you sew, could be a faulty motor, or faulty transformer. Suggest that it be serviced and cleaned by an authorized Husqvarna Viking Dealer. You can find the nearest dealer by click on the "Dealer" link at http://www.husqvarnaviking.com

Good luck.

Most likely your machine is seizing due to old dried oil. Your machine speeds up after a while of running because it has heated up the old oil. Address the problem soon as continued use can damage the motor.

I have a Husqvarna Viking Optima 120 sewing machine. It was working fine, then out of the blue the bottom thread is bunching up?

Question edited for full 'make model (what it is)'.
Question moved to maker category.

You either have a threading issue, or a tension issue, or both issues. Read the Article and watch the videos.

By thread tension, we mean the amount of thread that can pass through the machine to create the stitch. The more thread in the stitch, then the looser the stitch. The less thread, then the tighter the stitch. Top thread tension is controlled by a dial on the machine's thread path.

Does the husqvarna viking quilt designer 11 sew straight stitches without using a card?

It is possible but it will only sew a straight stitch (more than likely a 2.5MM stitch length which is a common/standard length for straight stitching.

Viking Husqvarna Model 6020 stitch selector will not turn.

look at the cam gear. This is the unit that the cam connects to. It could have a crack or be split completely. If there is a crack the cam stack will have to be replaced. The parts are hard to get and a good technician is needed.

I have a husqvarna viking model 6030 & the stitch length is stuck - it will only move forward in tiny stitches

Sounds like the feed stepper motor needs replacing (or gunk cleaned out of). You might want to take it to an authorized husqvarna viking dealer for service. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com
Good luck.

The stitch bunches on the bobbin side. The Viking dealers says parts are no longer made for the Viking 1+. A plastic part by the bobbin shows evidence of overheating. We can't believe this makes this...

Parts are still available. Make sure you are using an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. Check the Husqvarna Viking website for dealers in your area - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us If the dealer is unable to fix or get parts, have them send the machine to Husqvarna Viking Service Technician headquarters in Tennessee. They can repair or rebuild parts no longer available. Also parts may be available from third party = http://www.pd60.net. Good luck.

Size of stitch

Sounds like malfunction with the feeddogs or stitch length balance. Without thread or fabric, turn the handwheel and watch the feeddogs (the toothy looking things under the presser foot which moves the fabric as you sew). The amount of distance they move with each revolution of the handwheel determines the stitch length. Watch to see whether they move from front to back. It may be that they are worn out or that they are just too low to adequately move the fabric as you sew. Take to authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for repair. This is not something that can be done by the owner. Check Husqvarna Viking website for dealer closest too you.
