Yes i tried attaching my computer to the philips 60pp935217 AV5 input section. by connecting monitor plug to the same monitor plug thats on the back of the television panel.
when i start the computer, the video works just fine, shows the boot up, and windows it loading but once it gets into windows all i get is horizontal line gaps of green, blue, and yellow squiggling on the screen whenever i try to access AV5 video when i switch to AV1 the tv comes on, an able to watch tv, an when i select other AV#'s they tend to work as well for the components i have them assigned. but whenever i go to AV5 i dont see my windows platform. just squiggly lines.
can i just connect monitor wire from computer display card to the HDTV input? or do i need to have a video card that has HDTV output and connect the wire from that to the back panel of the TV's AV5 input?////
please help?

Hi Roger,
Initially, pls try lowering the screen resolution of your PC. This can be done at the Display Properties/Settings tab and then move the slider of the Screen resolution towards the left, Apply OK. In some instances, you need to also lower down the Screen refresh rates in the Monitor tab of the Advanced Properties.
If your concern has not been corrected after completion of the above procedures, then other methods can be considered.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Hi again Roger,
My initial post was in response to your description of "just squiggly lines." If you have tried lowering your PC's screen resolution pls post back results.
In your current setup of the 2nd/new PC using the Philips 60PP935217 monitor, pls try to boot in safe mode which should normally allow you to adjust/lower the screen resolution.
Cheers.

You don't say what king of computer you have. Laptop or Desktop?
Most laptops have a monitor output jack but they can only run either
that or the laptop display, not both. To run the TV off that jack
there is usually a keyboard key that switch it back and forth. If
the laptop supports dual monitors, you can enable the second one by
going to the display setup page.
Most desktops only support one monitor, so you would have to dedicate your TV to the computer.
Many video boards have a composite video output (little yellow jack)
that can go to an AV input on the TV and is usually the simplest way to
go for video only applications.
Hope Ya Fix It!

ok originally i had my computer up an running, desktop sorry. with the video card i had, i used both a monitor and used the monitor plug on the back of the HDTV as an extended monitor. so when computer was up an running, i had 2 screens. on monitor was screen one and the HDTV was screen 2. i am not trying to watch tv through my computer. i want to use the philips HDTV as a monitor thats all. i was hoping i could just plug in the HDTV as the monitor without having to setup an additional monitor. or do i have to have both operational?
i then, disconnected everything and put the computer in the bedroom. but now i built another tower a similiar tower/desktop
and thought that i would just put that one out in the living room. and hook that one up to the HDTV but i forgot how to go about doing it.
i remember having the monitor hooked up as screen 1 an HDTV was extended screen. but this new tower that i built i dont have monitor for it thats why i was hoping i could just plug the monitor wire that can go from the back of the computer to the HDTV AV5 since its the same cord that a monitor uses yes?
like i said.. the HDTV when switched to AV5, you see the dos bootup like screen, then it goes into loading windows... but right after that poof it just goes squiggly lines i can't make out anything to see the settings to adjust the settings... its impossible to see.
i lost both the manual an the original remote to the tv, so i am using universal remote at moment. so not sure how to turn on the HDTV settings.
with universal remote,
maybe i need to use menu system to setup the AV5 setting?
