If it is under warranty, call Whirlpool at 1-866-698-2538. If it is out of warranty, try running the washer with no clothes in it in spin cycle. If it runs fine empty, it may be that when you had clothes in it they were not balanced evenly in the tub. If it runs off balance when empty, then a spring may have broken or come off. Contact an appliance repairman.
OK, lets see if I can help you. First, remove the 2 screws that are on the rear of the top panel, slide the panel back about 1/2 inch and lift the top off. Look at the rear bearings and any other visible signs of malfunction. Also, be sure to check the suspension for anything that may be loose. Post your findings back to me.
1. Make and model of the washer? 2.How old the washer is? 3. Is it banging only at high speed or even on slow speed? 4. Is it only during the final spin or all the time during spin? 5. If you move the drum by hand, is there any noise? Could you turn the drum easily?
Check and see if the inner drum is loose and floppy.if it is, it's likely the bearings have collapsed, and require replacement...If the drum feels stiff and tight, it could be that something is jammed between the inner and outer drums. If YES... then the machine is not balanced on the floor well.... the 4 stands on which the machine rests have adjustable screws... You will need to fasten or loosen the nuts that will adjust the height of the legs on which the machine rests.... all the 4 legs need to be firmly on the floor .... If one is too high then the machine rocks on its side...
If NO.. only sometimes...
You are overloading the machine with heavy clothes... distribute your wash clothes by weight...
old duets have nut on rear pulley that becomes loose. remove rear panel and tighten nut. check while spinning by hand if pop is felt. if it rotates smoothly then you may need new shocks on tub
chances are you had a blockage in the pump and it tried to spin with the water still in the drum. check the bottom hose and filter for blockages so it does not occur again.
