Yes; the water control switch is under the control panel it has a clear hose attached to it. the hose goes to a nipple on the tub. the weight of the water pressing down on the air in this hose turns off the water level switch. the hose has probably come loose from the tub or, the switch. also the switch could be bad. you can check the switch by blowing into the tub end and, listening for a soft click or. use a multimeter.

Sounds like the water valve solenoid is stuck open, or the water level switch also known as a pressure switch is bad. Turn the machine on as if you are filling it to do a wash and pull the plug from the wall. If the water continues to come in the machine with the plug out,you need to replace the water inlet valve where the hot and cold hoses hook up.

I have a Kenmore 500 top load washer that doesn't hold water. As it is filling for the wash cycle all the water runs down the drain

The drain hose outlet must be higher than the 'full' water level in the tub or the water will syphon out until the tub water equals the hose height. If the drain system you are using for the washer is floor level, then you need to install a vertical pipe (1-1/2" minimum) to place the hose end into at the top and it should eject the water through a 90 degree elbow onto the floor at the bottom. There are more elegant solutions, but this will stop the tub from self-draining. Good luck!

Unit is filling up half way or so and just keeps running, but will not fill up all the way almost like water is draining and running at same time

Tub keeps filling does not overflow.
Solution:
Drain hose must be 36 inchs above floor level to prevent siphoning.

All of the water filling my kenmore washer is flooding out bottom

If you have ever experienced the problem where you washer continually fills but never reaches the proper level (not an overflow). Or, the wash tub water level cannot be maintained, because the water level keeps dropping. You may be experiencing what is known as "siphoning". This occurs when there is no air gap for the drain line at the standpipe. The standpipe is the drain pipe at the wall where the washer drain line is placed. With no air gap, a vacuum is created, and water will begin to drain from the wash tub prematurely. To prevent this from occurring, follow this advice:

* The standpipe should be 2 inches in diameter to allow a sufficient air gap between the top of the standpipe and the drain hose.
* The standpipe should be a minimum of 34" from the floor, and should not exceed 72 inches in height.
* DO NOT seal the top of the standpipe. Many consumers seal the standpipe in the belief that this will prevent overflows, or get rid of drain odors. This often creates more problems than solutions.
* DO NOT place the drain hose too far down into the pipe. Water stays in the drain trap area of the standpipe. If the end of the drain hose rests in this area, no air gap is created, and this can also cause siphoning. 4 to 6 inches is sufficient.
* The drain hose length must not exceed 10 feet in length. Excessive drain hose length can cause drain problems and back wash.

Check water valve may not be shutting off .
Check water level switch , or hose going to it from tub must be air tight may have pin hole in it.

Kenmore Elite Calypso wont drain

Oh the dreaded calypso pump...Seen that one a million times. Pumps get clogged pretty easily. Try to get the water out manually first. Than push the washer back and lean it against the wall so that you can access the bottom. Remove the 3 screws. Bottom panel should come off. The pump is on the right, its black. Get ready with a shop vac or alot of towels, theres gonna be a flood. There are 2 clamps on black hoses that need to be taken off so that you can slide the hoses off the pump. Next remove the 3 bolts that hold the pump in place. Next lower the pump out of the hole it sits in. Youll have to follow the wiring harness up and disconnect it. Now you can try and clen out the pump or replace it. Part # is 285990. Costs about 75.00. Hope that helps. Let me know if yiu need more help. Dave www.washermd.com

Another flood. GE washer

The water sound is normal. There is a solution in the top of inner tub for balance. Is it overflowing...as in not stopping the fill cycle? If so check to make sure small hose is still attached to outer tu at bottom left front. This dome that it connects to can become filled with scum and causes the unit to not know that it's full. This causes flooding. You can try removing hose and cleaning out with thin wire. Sometime only fix is to replace outer tub. Again, this is only if overflowing!!
Another possibility is a bad break allowing outer tub to spin in agitation. This throws water up over sides of tub. Monitor unit when agitating to see if outer tub picks up speed and starts to spin. It is normal for it to index.
