Daniel;
That mix is 32:1. It makes for harder starting, carbons up pistons, cylinders, and mufflers.
1 gallon of premium fuel to 2.6 ounces of quality 2-cycle oil is 50:1.
You are correct, 50:1 is what Echo recommends.

In the USA fuel contains ethanol. Please use any mix over 1.5 months old in a 4 cycle engine.

Your manual can be found here:

must be mixed with a good quality synthetic 2-cycle air cooled engine oil designed to be
mixed at a Ratio of 40:1 ...."
and I quote once more from the manual "Helpful Tip. To obtain
correct oil mix ration, pour 3.2 ounces of 2 cycle synthetic oil into one gallon of fresh gas."

What ratio of oil and gas do I mix together? How do you start it? I bought the weed eater used.

If you bought it used, you can bet that they didn't run it out of fuel before they stored it, so the gas evapoated out of the carb and all that was left was oil, so mix your fuel 8 to one eight parts gas and one part oil, you'll have to hit the primer botton several times.

I just need to know if all gas weed eaters use the same gas/oil mix thanks

All 2 stroke motors use more or less the same oil/Fuel mix, BUT You MUST know the exact amount for your particular engine. I believe for your motor it is 40:1.
The commonest Ratios are about 5% (20:1) - 6% (17:1) and newer motors are usually 2% (50:1). I have also included 3% (32:1) because many tuned motors use this ratio.

ECHO 2000 WEED EATER I changed the fuel line,

You may need the carburetor adjusted or rebuilt. The other possible item is "bad gas". If the gas has been sitting around longer than 30 days, it may be time to mix up some fresh fuel mixture.

My weedeater brand trimmer won't start

I believe you have the wrong GAS AND OIL MIXTURE. MOST WEED EATERS are a Ration of 90:1 or even less 75:1 For WEEDEATER I would use a 50:1 or if you choose 32:1 should work. Use a good 2-stroke oil. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER OIL> You see the more oil you use the harder it is to start. Don't forget to Pump the fuel Bulb on the side before trying to start it.About 3 x should do it. GOOD LUCK and it is and does effect me when their is death by a LOVED ONE. My prayers are with you! From Mddoc13 ( BOB)

Weed eater TE475 - fuel ratio

FUELING ENGINE
WARNING:
Remove fuel cap slowly
when refueling.
HELPFUL TIP
To obtain the correct oilmix
ratio, pour 3.2 ounces of
2--cycle synthetic oil into
one gallon of fresh gas.
This engine is certified to operate on unleaded
gasoline. Before operation, gasoline must be
mixed with a good quality synthetic 2-cycle
air-cooled engine oil designed to be mixed at a
ratio of 40:1. Poulan/Weed Eater brand
synthetic oil is recommended.Mix gasoline and
oil at a ratio of 40:1. A 40:1 ratio is obtained by
mixing 3.2 ounces (95ml) of oil with 1 gallon (4
liters) of unleaded gasoline. DO NOT USE
automotive oil or marine oil.
