My maytag atlantis dryer will constantly run without heat. Also when you open the dryer door the light does not come on. Any ideas of what the issue is?

the heat sensor may be bad. in newer dryers there is a heat sensor by the element. They do this as a safety now 1 so you dont melt plastics and 2 to prevent clothing from wrinkling. it will get hot and cool down and get hot and cool down....

IF IT RUNS WITHOUT HEAT ALL THE TIME, YOU NEED TO CHECK THE THERMAL FUSE OR IGNITOR. IF IT'S GET WARM SOMETIMES AND TAKES A LONG TIME TO DRY YOUR CLOTHES, CHECK YOUR VENT TO THE OUTSIDE, RADIANT SENSOR, AND COILS

Wont heat and light is out

Dryers either heat or they don't. If you have heat but clothes take a long time to dry, it will always be an issue with your venting system. That could be anything from a clog in the hose or at the outside exit, a smashed vent hose or a very long run of hose which will cut down on effective evacuation of the moist air, to name a few.

Maytag atlantis dryer does not heat

Perhaps the thermal fuse is open. All thermostats and thermal fuses should be closed for continuity at room temperature on this dryer.

Maytag Atlantis MDE6200AYW will run, but no heat

Check to make sure that you have the proper voltage running to the dryer first. Next you may have a problem with your heating element or with your thermal fuse. Get your dryer opened up so you can see your heating element. Run the dryer and if you see the heating element come on and then turn right back off again then you have a bad thermal fuse. If it doesn't come on at all though then the heating element is bad. Both parts can be picked up at your local appliance repair shop. Just make sure to unplug the dryer before replacing the part. If you have any other questions let me know and let me know if this was helpful for you. Good luck.

Unfortunately the motor now needs to be replaced. New motors cost around $125-$150 and are fairly tricky to install.
