Raymarine smartpilot x-5. The fluxgate compass is some 45 - 60 degrees out from the boat compass. I have tried to recalibrate but this does not solve the problem. Any ideas?

First of all - is the boat compass correct? How does it align with COG? Secondly, do you have a magnetic field that interfere with the fluxgate? To test for this you can use the compass on your smartphone or a handheld compass, move about in the boat and keep the phone/compass aligned with the keel. If the heading drifts in the area where you have your fluxgate today, move it.

Hi I have a raymarine c120,dose the hiden electronic compass have a reset button, when following a track on screen im am traveling sideways or a stern,,,do I need a new one or reset,??

Do you have the display configured for "heading up"? If it's "north up" then the map orientation will be fixed and your heading will change. Look at the softkeys under "presentation". The C120 doesn't have a hidden electronic compass; it uses the heading from the GPS (which will wander around when you are stopped). If you have a Raymarine autopilot it will provide compass heading to the C120.

Need to reconnect a c-80 system. I think the MFD, radar, GPS, and depthsounder are connected via Seatalk

I think your best bet here would be to post your query on the Raymarine forum.

There are actual technicians over there to look after you.

I have a Raymarine ST2000+ tiller pilot. In going to install it, the way my boat is laid out, the best way to install it would result in its being about 5 degrees diagonal to the transom, looking down on...

Hi!

I can't see being 5 degrees off line much of a problem as far as the sweep is concerned.

I'm fairly sure that when you do your 1 1/2 to 2 SLOW circles that the tillerpilot will correct itself to read closer to your actual compass heading as well.

Hope this helps you out.
Happy Boating!

I installed a Raymarine compass sensor in a GRP sailing boat underneath the chart table at least 50 cm away from metal and magnets. It is connected to a SP X-5 computer unit and a ST6002 autopilot...

If I were troubleshooting this, I'd manually adjust the orientation of the compass sensor until it matched the true heading. Once that was done, I'd move it side to side to ensure it's changing in the correct directions. If not, the unit could be upside down. Let me know how this turns out.

We have a Raymarine ST8001 autopilot system that we are unable to get throught the calibration mode to set deviation. Our boat dealer mounted the fluxgate compass within 18" of the emgine which was too...

compass needles are affected by iron objects and can also be affected by field magnetism generated by current flowing through a wire .Bilge pumps , winch motors are heavy current drawers and they could affect the compass operation
while the voltage is low the field of the magnetism around the wire can influence the compass heading so check for any electronic apparatus wiring close to the unit ( radio , radar etc
it may be necessary to run the powers wires in an insulated sheath ( like coaxial cable or other insulated power cables) around sensitive equipment
talk with marine equipment installers to get better ideas as to prevent interference with the compass
