Whenever i try to print anything my printer prints the first 5 lines or so and then just stops and moves on to the next page where it print the first 5 lines before giving up again.

What type of document are you trying to print(PDF, MS Word doc, etc)?
Is the printer connected via USB cable, Bluetooth?

First thing I would do is try printing a different document or even a different type of document.
If printing different documents results in the same problem then I would uninstall the current drivers, download the latest drivers from Canon, then install those drivers and try printing again.
Also, if the printer is connected to your computer via USB cable verify the cable has no exposed wiring or try a different USB cable.

Hi Marthawinter, I support the advice given by the first installer, please remove you telephone number.

You appear to have tried most of everything, if your printer has excess to use a USB to printer cable, I suggest this is your best way to proceed. Once you have achieved connection via this medium, you can then avail of a wireless selection.

If not, find the wireless set up on your printer and press the WPS button on the printer this should allow connection.

Printer will only print out computer code lines

Open internet explorer, click on tools then internet options click on advanced then scroll down and check the box that says to Print back ground colors and images. Or you can go to control panel and click on network and internet connections and click on internet options then click on the advanced tab scroll down and do the same as above.

Distorted printed documents

Try this steps first and these steps first :

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Printing from the internet or e-mail

TO isolate the problem you can do a print preview and see if if looks good before printing.

If it does look correct before printing try

1) Sounds like there was a communication problem between the printer and computer.(IF the printout is garbles characters)

Typically you need to

a) Delete any existing print jobs.
b) Turn off printer.
c) Verify all cable connections to printer.
d) Power on printer

Try printing again...

or

If print previw showed "Code"

If the print out is "HTML Code" make sure you are not selecting "view source" and printing it...
