Parental screen coming up on a DVD. Not able to watch DVD.

I just rented the dvd "Across the Universe". IT's new. When i put the dvd with the film on it in the dvd player, I get a parental control screen that I can't get past. I can't watch the film. The feature dvd that came with it, works fine! Everything I have works fine. What's the deal? I have a GoVideo and have never had any problems with it.

I purchased the same video---Across the Universe and have the same problem with the parental control. This movie is rated PG-13. I don't have this problem when playing a movie that is rated R.

Exact same issue on the GoVideo DV2150 with Across the Universe rented from Netflix. Tried disabling the parental code or changing it, to no avail. We'd never set it in the first place. We've used this DVD player for many, many DVDs of various ratings and this is the first time we've encountered this problem.  Across the Universe plays fine in other DVD players in the house.

We even found the universal remote code in our manual and it still doesn't work--we're going to try the autoplay feature mentioned!

I have the same problem.  I have tried all the solutions, and nothing is working.  I put it on progressive play.  Didn't really know what it meant, and now I'm stuck on blue screen.  The menu won't come up!!  Help!  Stupid, piece of ****!!!  Sorry, my bad.  What do I do now???

  • moviefan Mar 29, 2008

I used the default code 3308 to change the password. Once I put the password in, there was just a blue screen. I pressed stop and then play again and it seems to be working. Good luck!

OMG same problem 4 me, must be because of the Go Video vhs/dvd combo player....I didn't know anybody else also had one of these....I have watched alot of dvd movies on it but Across the Universe is the first one I have come across in the universe that has a parental block.....I also used the 3308 default code to unlock the parental block then hit stop and then play and after 2 days of phone calls to Blockbuster and almost throwing my player through the wall I am finally watching the damn movie....IT Better be good....

Use password 3308 to change the parental control to 7, and the movie will run

You have the rating set on your DVD player to lower than the rating of the movie you are trying to watch.

Somewhere in your setup menu of your DVD player (press the "setup" button on the remote with disc stopped or no disc) you will find a place to set the parental lock. Either turn it off, if that is an option, or set it to the rating of the movie (or higher) to enable viewing.

Try this: Go into the setup menu, and choose autoplay- on. For us, this bypassed the parental control menu feature at the start up. Smehow, it was then playing with Spanish subtitles! :) lol but we just hit subtitle on the remote and they went away.

(I had the same problem with ATU today. Since we couldn't find the password that came with the unit, and 0000 didn't work, we were stuck.)

Goodluck!

SOURCE: Parental screen coming up on a DVD. Not able to watch DVD.

I am having the exact same problem. Across the Universe rented from Netflix. I contacted Netflix and they said it was not the DVD but the DVD player. Does anyone have a solution?

Zenith DVD player DVB412 is requiring an entry for a Parental Control Limit on a brand new Across the Universe DVD. I've tried 0000, 3308 to reset the code, the reset button. It looks like others had...

Hello Hummer,

Please follow the instuctions below to reset the password and switch off the parental control on the Zenith DBV412.

1. Switch on the TV and DVD player
2. Switch the TV to the input for the DVD player
3. Remove any disc from the player
4. Press the SETUP key on the Zenith remote to open the on-screen menu
5. Press 2 1 0 4 9 9 using the numerical keys on the Zenith remote.
6. Press SETUP again to close the menu

This will clear any password that has been set. Now you need to switch off the parental control:

8. Press the SETUP key to open the on-screen menu again
9. Use the down arrow to highlight the PADLOCK for the parental control settings
10. Press the RIGHT arrow once to enter the parental control menu
11. Highlight RATING and press the RIGHT arrow once.

You will be asked to set a password. Enter something simple and easy to remember, e.g. 0000 then press ENTER. You will need to confirm the password by entering the same number again, then press enter again.

12. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to highlight UNLOCK then press ENTER
13. Press SETUP again to close the menu

You should now be able to insert your Across the Universe disc and play it. If you are still unable to watch the disc or you are unable to switch off the parental control feature, please let me know.

I put in the "Across

Try 0000 - It's the default code for most brands unless you set a code yourself and you've forgotten it.

If not, also try 1234, 1111, 2222, 3333, 4444, etc.

Hope this helps,

Zenith dvb410 parental control

Without the DVD in the player go into your setup menu. Arrow down to the icon that is a lock press enter. arrow down to password and if it says new or change select it. you need to enter a pass code so that when the prompt comes up you can override the parental limits.
if you need to clear your old security code because you have forgotten it the manual says to input the 6 digit number from teh setup menu "210499" I did not do this as I had never set up a security code but the Across the universe DVD will play as long as enter the security code.

How do you reset the parental control code?

Called Zenith.  They said: turn on the DVD player.  Hit "set-up". Scroll down to the "lock" icon.  Scroll over to "Rating". Scroll over to unlock.  Enter 0000.  Click on Ok.  Enter 0000 again, click Ok again.  Menu should read unlock.  Voila!
