Our Spektronik PLTV3250 television remote control quit working. We were told the remote control for that brand was no longer available, but the Protron remote would work. We ordered it, and it looked identical to the original remote except for having "Protron" on it instead of "Spektronik". Now the Protorn remote has quit working. Can it be repaired? We were sold (on eBay) another remote that is supposed to directly replace the Protron remote, an LG MKJ40653833, and that it would work with no codes. It doesn't work at all - doesn't do a THING to the television. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

    As I posted originally, I purchased a new remote that was supposed to substitute for the old remote. That substitute does NOTHING. I need to get the substitue remote working.

    Two previous experts have basically just said to buy another remote. As my comment states above, we have already bought another remote. I need help to get that one working.

I doubt that you`ll be able to do something with the lg remote.
Now you asked"can it be repaired?"
In many cases ; yes it can be repaired and you have two of them which means that your doubling your chances.
I can help you with it but first i`d like to know if you have a soldering iron?

Remotes in general are very difficult to service, I would remove the batteries, leave it for an hour and put in brand new batteries, this will reboot the remote.

Failing that buy a Lodgitech Harmony remote or a universal remote, they are far better and more veristile then OEM remotes.

Hi

There is no Point in getting the Remote repaired as the cost of Repair would be much more than the new remote. Yes, Original Remote is not available.The substitute remote is :-

Is that the same one you purchased? Have you programed it correctly?

It could be an issue with the TV. The IR sensor which senses the signal from the remote might be Defective.

What is the remote code number? my remote is not working and I am trying to program a universal remote, but can't find a code (protron pltv3250)
If your universal remote has a code search function (most do) you may have to try that. Allot of off brand tv's are manufactured by other companies. Check the back of the TV to see if there is a label that says "manufactured for Protron by ..." If a code search doesn't work post back with the brand of remote and we can try help you further.

My remote down button is broke and now my remote volume button no longer works...any replacement controlers available
your best bet is to try a universal remote but you will need to make sure it will work with the brand of remote and model you have. You could also try a second hand one on ebay.

Well, the original is no longer available, but go to www.remotes.com and enter the model number, the remote number or the part number and they will show the replacement for it. It's pretty darned ugly and it costs $46.95

Isn't this a Protron PLTV3250 page?
The shop that diagnosed your problem told you that to get you out the door without having to look like idiots and say ...."I dunno whats wrong with it". Shop by model # at www.shopjimmy.com. They have used circuits and modules for most brands. I'd start with the power supply, as it will likely be your problem.
