Screen turned blank

Everytime I turn on the camera, either in video or picture mode, nothing appears on the screen.
The whole problem started when the image in the screen begun appearing upside-down. After a while, the screen turned blank.

I can take pictures and shot videos but nothing appears on the screen. Not even when on the PLAY mode.
I think the screen is damaged but I can not even find Sanyo Technical Support in the U.S.

Any advice, please.

exact same problem. brother opened camera because it was out of warranty and it looks the cable is torn inside... should not have happened under normal use. seems to be a defect.

SOURCE: Sanyo XACTI HD1 Camera-No Pictures / Videos captured.

I have intermittent problems of this type too. Occasionally I get a blank screen in the display mode.

Does the red light on the back of your camera flash while the screen is dark? Mine does.

It is beginning to bug me a lot. It may be because I got my camera wet in the past (and hence I have broken my camera), but I doubt that would result in a partial failure.

I think that the Xacti HD1/HD2 has issues a bit like a blue screen of death on an old Windows computer when faced with storage problems.

I.e. it works but crashes sometimes when it cannot store to its storage medium.

These things work for me
1) Turning the power on and off via the button underneath the screen.
2) Removing and re-inserting the SD card.
3) Turning the power on and off by removing the battery.
4) Using a different (and faster?) SD card.
I am still using my HD2, but I am finding that I must attempt solutions 1-3 about once a day.

It could be because the card I have been using recently is not fast enough. The HD2 accepts both SD and SDHC cards. My SDHC card (which is newer) seems to result in fewer problems, either because the SDHC format is more suited to the Xacti HD2 or becaues the SDHC card I have is faster that then SD card I have. I suspect problems with the speed of the card. I am using cheap SD cards.

The screen on my camera will not display anything at all. The camera appears to turn on, but the screen is blank. Even when I switch it from one mode to another, there is nothing displayed on the screen

Have you tried taking pictures with it? Do the pictures show up when taken? If so, then it's likely that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

Blank screen

Try this...if you can still get into the setup menu, scroll to "reset" and follow the on-screen instructions. If not, remove the memory card and battery...press all the buttons...leave the camera alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on. Did that help?

LCD Display Blank

I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback as well.

I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito, Ecuador)

Samsung s860 digital camera turns on and then goes to blank screen and will do nothing else, to turn off it requires battery removal. same story with new batteries.

Dear customer

thanks for ur inquiry for ur product

If the LCD screen is blank or black when you have your camera in the Camera or Play mode, the camera may need service. To determine if this is the case, follow these steps:

1. Press the Menu button to see if the LCD screen can display the OSD (On Screen Display). 2. Set your camera to Play mode, and then see if the LCD screen displays a picture. 3. To eliminate the possibility of a user setting causing the problem, put the unit into Auto mode by rotating the dial on the units exterior to Auto Mode. Note: The word "Auto" appears on the screen when this mode is activated. 4. If putting the camera into Auto mode does not resolve the problem, test the unit in Play mode. If the unit operates normally in Play mode, but the screen in Camera mode is blank, your camera requires service which you can arrange by Creating a Service Ticket below. Note: Because your camera has an automatic LCD display shutdown feature, its normal for the LCD to stop displaying when the camera has been on for along period of time. This feature prolongs battery life.

Blank picture screen

Did you accidentally hit the "DISP" button on the back of your camera? It manually turns the LCD screen on and off to save batteries.

Lumix TZ3 lens does not open

It is not clear if you are saying whole camera turns off or just screen turns off.

Notice before the camera went bad the lense does not extend in play mode, while it does in record mode. Many cameras have software that automatically turns camera off if lens cannot/fails to extend for some reason. Try to help it extend in record mode before camera turns off.
