I bought a 2nd hand ipod nano 8gb from a mate but she lost the user manual and wasnt sure if a disc came with it.i cant put on or take music off.please help

try by using add to playlist not drag and dropping on the itunes. if this wont work then try to format your mp3 and do it again. you should use latest itunes

That means that the inverter board for the LCD has gone out or there is a bad connection internally and it is not getting the signal to display the info. Your best bet is to see how much Apple wants to fix it. If it is too much I would say time for a new one. Fry's Electronics is selling the new 8GB Nano for somewhere between 139 and 159. That is their regular price.

On Pg6 of the 2nd Gen Nano manual there is a list it's functions. Second one down is how to turn it off which is 'Press and hold Play/Pause'.

when you turn on your ipod can you hear any songs?

Its best to use Itunes, the files are stored in the ipod in a very complex way and its really easyest to use itunes.
