Kenmore electric range: oven & broiler will not work.

Kenmore electric range
#790.93851301
I was using my oven when I heard a pop. I wasn't in the room so I didn't see what had happened. After that neither oven or broiler burner would work. The stove top works fine and all of the controls on the panel seem to work also. I replaced the oven temp. probe, but it still doesn't work. Is there a fuse on this type of unit...if not can you suggest something else to try?

Jack

All your oven features are controlled by the Electronic Range Control (ERC) board. This is your clock/timer assembly. Unfortunately, most do not have fuses and are not serviceable. You will probably need to replace the board. The following link explains how:

Replacement circuit boards can be purchased on line at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare. For the model number you have listed, the part number for a new board is 316207511.

NOTE: The overlay, which is the plastic template with the numbers and letters preprinted on it, does not come with the new board. It has to be purchased seperately. However, if the current overly is still in good shape, it can be peeled off the old circuit board and reused. The part number (if required) is 316220841.

If you have questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Kenmore Oven and Broiler stopped working

My first suggestion is to remove the broil and the bake elements from the oven (unplug it or shut off the breaker) and test them with a meter on the OHM setting and see if you have continuity. You can't always tell if they are blown just by looking at them. Secondly, if they both check out alright, I would be looking at the ERC - electronic clock - you have a burnt relay in which case you will need a new one. Depending on where you are you may be able to find a place where it can be rebuilt for about 1/2 the cost of a new one. Hope this helps you.

I have no heat coming from the oven portion of my kenmore 790 electric range after hearing a "pop" sound. fyi, the element looks intact.

Top burners are working, broiler is working, bottom oven burners dont ignite and dont heat the oven? What can we do?

Oven and broiler will not heat elements have continuity when oven was turned on heard a pop after that the problem started

do you have voltage? you have to have 240 volts if you only have 120 this might happen check your breaker. does your bake element work? if neither bake or broil work always check the breaker first and let me know

Kenmore range

If this range has electric elements in the oven, you may have blown one of the heating elements. Do any of the oven functions work? If you were attempting to BAKE when this occurred, have you attempted to turn on the BROILER to see if it works? If the BROILER still heats up, you may just have a bad heating element. If both features quit working, the problem may be with your Electronic Range Control (ERC) board. Post back with comments and let me know.

Gas oven problems

The oven probably uses electric start. There might be a breaker in there that popped.

FRIDGIDAIRE RANGE

It is most likely the pop came from a relay on the control board if the elements checked ok but not getting power to them. This is fairly common on fridgidaire ranges. Replace the oven control. Usually the control overlay is sold as a separate piece.
