Your router could be locking up do to overheating. Make sure it is well ventelated and you can also try to keep a fan on it to keep it cool.

This is because your router is dropping the connection with your ISP Modem...
It can be even an issue of modem...

To isolate the issue, what you can do is... You can connect your computer directly to the Modem and you can check for any intermittant connectivity...
if you dont have any problem with your modem, then definitely its gonna be the problem with your Belkin Router...

Doing a reset for the router and reconfiguring will resolve the issue in most of the cases...
If in case if it doesnt works, then you can do a firmware update for the router (that would be found in belkin router support website)...
Even then if it is dropping the connection then definitely it is a faulty router...You can ask for a replacement if the product is still under hardware & software warranty...

My belkin n series keeps losing internet connection hard wired to my computer and three wireless computers in the house. when hard wired to the virgin broadband modem everything works fine

I would suggest taking a look at your modem LEDs. What happens exactly when you lose connection? A look at the LEDs should give you some thought as what might be causing this. You can also try resetting your Belkin to default factory settings by pressing the Reset button at the back for 30 seconds, and then putting back your Belkin settings.

4 port wired belkin router

Is the cable to your modem in the 'Uplink' or 'WAN' connnection?

Connect your PC to the modem directly. Do you still lose the connection? If you do, Call your DSL tech support and ask them to check the link to your modem. They should be able to let you know if there is a issue from their end.
