Just bought new computer with Windows 7 Professional, put in my Soundblaster Audigy 2 sound card, disabled the Realtec card that came with the system, but the computer still doesn't acknowledge that new...

Disable the realtek from bios, then uninstall its drivers.
Reboot
If Soundblaster is not auto detected go to Device Manager and click on menu "Search for new hardware". After your card is detected, install specific drivers
Reboot
and that should do the trick.

No sound on the Vista comupter. speakers plugged

Dose the sound card have surround sound on it, might need to enable the surround on it. Or try to plug the speaker cable in the black or green hole. And see if that matters. Good luck!!

My hp computer will not play my logitech 5.1 speakers right.

Hi mate,

You have to download the latest driver for your soundcard for it to have the 5.1 support. For instance, I had to downloadthe RealTek driver pack and install it, then double click the redRealtek icon in the bottom right hand corner of my screen, and go toadvanced settings and set the preferences for each speaker and each ofthe 3 input ports on my computers sound card.

If you have a Realtek card then, you want the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R2.11, you can find it here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/173933659/WDM_R211.zip

and the Vista one is here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/173930788/Vista_R211.zip

That's for my setup though, if you have a Soundblaster card, it'll be the newest Creative driver you want..
Figureout which one you have from your device manager in the system part ofthe control panel and then google search for the card brand followed bythe word 'driver', and check the download page to make sure it supportsyour card's model number.

Good luck

Looking for driver

On Creative website there are no drivers for 5.1 on Vista.

According to Crative, the 5.1 have reached the end of its service life and is not Vista compatible.

Some private uiser had found his own solution in alternative to creative deciosion not to make SB 5.1 Vista compatible.

Follow the instructions on this website, as they seem to be the only way to have SB 5.1 working on Vista.

Driver

there are no drivers for the speakers, you need an audio driver installed for you sound card.

http://support.dell.com

Your system will either have an on-board sound card (Sigmatel normally) or a soundblaster expansion audio card. (If the audio jacks are in an expansion slot below the video card, then you have a soundblaster.

Soundblaster drivers are found at http://www.creative.com
