We had a phone where the message light wasnt coming on. I found the fix but now the light is on when a message is left but where I did the fix when you pick up that phone (with prob) receiver then hit the...

Here's the free, don't look in the manual, free answer. You didn't fix anything, you set a message waiting from another phone. Either answer the other phone when you press the MESSAGE button, or dial 700 plus your extension to clear all MW lights. When you first press message, without picking up the handset, look at the display. It will tell you who, or what, left the message.

I don't know why you're using 167 as it's the 3rd set of VM ports, but the VM system needs to send out the MW indications. You can tell the system in 990 to let the VM or the phone system to cancel the MW light.

How do I make the phone ring/ Also how do I delete number's/

Activating Personal Ring
You can assign special ringer tones to anyone in your phonebook. When your phone gets a call, it looks up the Caller ID information in your phonebook. If you've assigned a personal ringer to that number, the phone uses it so you know who is calling. To turn the personal ringing on or off, follow these steps:
  1. Press [Menu/Select]. Select the HANDSET SETUP menu, and then the PERSONAL RING submenu.
  2. Move the cursor to select ON or OFF.
  3. Press [Menu/Select]. You will hear a confirmation tone.
Selecting a Ring Tone (Handset only)
You may choose from four melodies or three tones for your phone's primary ring tone. Each handset can use a different ring tone or melody. The available ring tones are as listed:
  1. Press [Menu/Select]. Select the HANDSET SETUP menu, and then the RINGER TONES submenu.
  2. Move the cursor to select a ring tone. As each ring tone is highlighted, you will hear a sample.
  3. When you hear the tone you want to use, press [Menu/Select]. You will hear a confirmation tone.
Adjusting the Speaker Volume
Handset Speakerphone: You can choose from six volume levels for the handset speakerphone. To adjust the speaker volume while on a speakerphone call, press the UP Arrow button (to make it louder) or the Down Arrow button (to make it softer).
Base Speaker: You can choose from ten volume levels for the base speaker. To adjust the speaker volume while call screening or playing messages, press [volume +] (to make it louder) or [volume -] (to make it softer).

Adjusting the Audio Tone
If you aren't satisfied with the audio quality of your phone, you can adjust the Audio Tone of the earpiece while on a call. Your phone gives you three audio tone options: low, natural and high; the default setting, Natural Tone, is recommended for hearing aid users. Audio tone adjustments only apply to the earpiece, not the speakerphone.
To adjust the audio tone:
  1. While on a call, press [Menu/Select].
  2. Move the cursor to select AUDIO TONE, and then press [Menu/Select].
  3. Move the cursor to select desired option (HIGH TONE, NATURAL TONE, or LOW TONE), and then press [Menu/Select]. Selected option appears in the display for two seconds, and then the display returns to normal.
Deleting Phonebook Entries
You can delete a single phonebook entry at a time or all phonebook entries at once:
To delete a single phonebook entry:
  1. When the phone is in standby, press the phonebook key.
  2. Find the entry that you want to delete and press [Menu/Select].
  3. Select DELETE. DELETE ENTRY? appears in the display.
  4. Move the cursor to select YES.
  5. Press [Menu/Select]. You will hear a confirmation tone, and DELETED! appears in the display.
Deleting Caller ID Numbers
  1. To delete only one Caller ID number, press the Caller ID button when the phone is in standby, and then find the number you want to delete.
  2. Press [Menu/Select] and select DELETE ENTRY.
  3. When the phone asks you to confirm, select YES.
  1. To delete all the Caller ID numbers, press the Caller ID button when the phone is in standby, and then press [Menu/Select].
  2. When the phone asks you to confirm, select YES.
Note: When you delete a Caller ID number, you delete it permanently.

Deleting a Redial Record
If you want to delete a phone number from the handset's redial list, follow the steps below:
  1. When the phone is in standby, press [Redial/Pause].
  2. Use the UP Arrow button and the Down Arrow button to scroll through the redial list.
  3. When you find the redial number you want to delete, press [Menu/Select] and select DELETE ENTRY.
  4. When the phone asks you to confirm, select YES. The redial number is deleted.
Resetting the Voice Message Waiting Indicator
  1. When you receive a new voice mail message, the new message LED on the top of the handset flashes and VM appears in the handset display.
  2. In the event your message alert tone gets out of sync with your phone company's voice messaging system, you can reset back to its original "no messages waiting" state.
  3. To reset, press and hold [find hs] on the base for five seconds.
  4. A beep sounds and the message alert tone is reset.

Cannot retrieve voicemail

When you press the message button, look at the display. Is it really going to the VM extension or is it going to another phone? Othre people could have left you a message by calling you and pressing the MESSAGE buttone either on purpose, or by accident.

You can clear ALL message lights from your phone by dialing *700 plus your extension and #. Of course you can access VM by dialing the VM extension, usually 165 or 500 from the intercom.

The New Voice Mail message appears and the light blinks and there are no voice mails.

What system? A Panasonic KEY SYSTEM (76xx/77xx/74xx/72xx phones) can have messages from other sources than the VM system.

If it's a display phone, try pressing the MESSAGE button without picking up the handset and read the display. It will tell you where it came from and you can press INTERCOM and ring that extension.
It works the same way if you call an extension and press the MESSAGE button...that leaves a message. Panasonic systems have a MW cancel code that usually begins with 700. In a TA system it's 700#, in the TDA/TAW's it's *700 plus your extension.

If it's a Panasonic cordless, it's probably hearing stutter dial tone from custom calling features.

I cant get a meesage tone

Message Alert: Go to Menu (four dots button at bottom left of main screen), Settings (cog button), Profiles. Ensure profile other than Silent or Vibrate Only is selected. Hit Menu/List button (bottom left) then Edit. Scroll down (using screen or camera focus ring) and ensure Message Alert isn't set to No Sound and select a tone from Message Tone.
Invalid picture messages: this is likely to be a carrier settings problem - either ring their customer service to get them to send you the settings (and ensure your account has MMS enabled) or download the settings via their web page.
Battery life: Try charging battery for 24 hours straight. Also ensure bluetooth is off if you're not using it. Turn Screen Brightness down and ensure backlight is set to 20 secs max. This will help extend battery life.

CAN'T TRANFER CALLERS TO VOICE MAIL

A Panasonic system and Pana branded voice mail has a VM Transfer key that lets you send a caller to voice mail. It's programmed by picking a button down the left side of the keystrip (CO) and pressing PROG, the button, 94+ the VM extension, and STORE. (In a TA-824 system it would be either 107 or 115).

The TRANSFER button would work if the extension has CF set (All Call or Busy/NoAnswer), but there would be a delay. At the very least, when you tried yours, you were either dialing the VM extension which is probably not vailid because it won't let you transfer to yourself, or an invalid extension.

MY PHONE SAYS "MAKE BUSY" ON MY LINE. IT WILL NOT FWD TO VM/ ONLY BUSY!!

I was given a set of codes to use to reset the "make busy" sign, which was **1, not sure if these codes pertain to all phones, and to turn off "head set" i was told to use **3. I was then able to see the date and time again!! I also was able to pick up my phone when it rings instead of having to press a certain ext to answer from.
Good luck!
