Canon PC1022 Digital Camera - Blank screen when taking photos

Hi. Our cameras digital screen is black with three square outlines when trying to take a photo - no lens cover and shows no picture. However when viewing old photos it displays them correctly on the screen. Why is this happening? There doesnt appear to be any buttons to turn the screen on or off an is no view finder to use instead of the screen (and no there is no lens cover on).

Screen is blank but still takes pictures fine

Try removing the battery or reseting the unit if there is a reset button. Otherwise it sounds like the screen died.

Black LCD screen/ not 'seeing' picture. Canon EOS 400D camera

Hi

The Digital Rebel XTi doesn't have 'live view' mode, you can't see what you're taking a picture of before you take the picture.

Help!

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try:

It doesn't take pictures...

Sounds like a defective CCD imager. You may be in luck. Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. Please check the following two links for more info:

Canon PowerShot Dropped: Blank Screen

For Ravi, this definitely sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/canon-digital-cameras-showing-black.html
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&fcategoryid=225&modelid=13390&keycode=2112&id=29819

By the way, don't tell Canon that you dropped the camera. Sounds like the CCD imager was about to go bad anyway, and the drop just accelerated this.
