I had HP Officejet Pro L7580 set tp ask me which program to scan to, and now it automatically scans to one note. I can't find where to change it back to give me the option of which program to scan to.
Re: I had HP Officejet Pro L7580 set to ask me which
Looks like you have saved the method as 'default'. If you open HP Solution Center and go to "Settings" and then choose "Scan settings" you can figure out the details from there. At some point, you choose not to save this as default and ask it to prompt each time..

Cobbled together a MS scan option that works with the L7580. Not very seamless but I'm scanning, viewing, saving and emailing OK.
Still wish I could get the darn L7580 to work via the "scan" button!

on hp solution center , we need to do some settings..
open hp solution center..> click on settings >
go to scan button settings.. >
add all the options to the right side. > press ok..
try to scan ..
Try scanning from the solution center. If successful, check the scan button settings if you can see applications available on the 'Destination List'. Add all the application to the right side. Close the solution center and try to scan.
You need to update the front panel button settings from Solution center or HP Director or you canuse these steps toscan without HP software.
VISTA 1.Click the Start (Windows) icon. 2. Click All Programs. 3. Click Windows Photo Gallery. 4. Click File and then click Import From Scanner or Camera. 5. Click Import. 6. Click Scan.
XP: === Scanning with Paint: ===
1. Click the Start (Windows) icon. 2. Click All Programs. 3. Click Accessories. 4. Click Paint. 5. Click File and then click From Scanner or Camera. 6. Click Scan.
First you have to do a Level 3 un-install. Do this by inserting the original disk that came with the printer.
go to "start" then "run" then type
e:\Util\CCC\Uninstall_L3.bat (or whatever drive you put the disk in)
This will uninstall the program completely from your computer.
Go to hp's website and download the hp basic feature package for IT professionals. Open the readme file and follow the instructions to install the program from the command line. Make sure your anti-virus software is turned off!
I just did this yesterday. It doesn't install a huge program on the computer that really slows it down. Plus it doesn't install all of the useless **** like customer participation program and **** like that.
You will be able to scan directly from Microsoft Word or any other program that has a scan feature. To scan from word (2003) go to "insert" then "picture" then "from scanner or camera" and follow the prompts. It works perfectly for me now. This was after many, many months of having the same problem you are having.
Click Settings , click Scan Settings and Preferences , and then click Scan To....Setup . The Button Settings window will appear.
The Destination List tab should be visible. The software will scan the computer and determine what scan capable programs are installed on the computer. These will be listed on the left side.
Select a program you wish to scan to and then click Add to move it to the right side. Programs listed on the right will be available as scanning destinations when pressing the Scan button. Figure 1: Destination tab of the Button Settings
5. On the Scan To Button tab, you may also specify what type of scan you wish to launch from the front panel and establish a default scan resolution and color depth setting.
6. Click OK to save the changes and exit the setting.

The L7580 is not meant to be set up as a scanning device on a network. This unit can only function properly as a USB connected device to have all the features work. Also, for the software to install with out problems, all other All in One software fro previous HP printers need to be removed. Once we did that and did clean install using USB only then did it work.
