Reinstalling cisco m20 0n vista

Is it re-installation of complete network or you are just trying to add Vista computer to the network?

Is it a complete re-installation then you can reset the router to factory default settings and then try to reconfigure it.

You can run Cisco connect software on the main computer or you can also reinstall it manually,

Read how to reconfigure router manually,

If you trying to connect Wireless Vista computer to the network then you can simply search for the WiFi and then join the wireless network on Windows Vista computer

Cisco 3925 Router Password Recovery

TheCisco 3925 router is part of a family of networking equipment produced byCisco, which has been a network equipment giant for many years. Used 3925routers are available on the Internet at reasonable prices, so acquiring one isnot difficult. However, if the password is unknown or lost, reconfiguration isimpossible until the password is reset or recovered.

Cisco has built in aprocedure for rescuing lost or forgotten passwords or entering new passwords.
ThingsYou'll Need: Serial to RJ-45 cable;Terminal emulation software
Instructions
1.Connect your computer to the router with the blue serial-to-RJ-45 cable thatcame with the router.
The 9-pin D-shell end connects to your computer's serialport, while the RJ-45 end connects to the console jack on the router.
The RJ-45end resembles a slightly larger telephone jack connector.

2.Turn on your computer and establish a terminal session to the 3925. You can use any terminal emulator, and many are freely available on the Internet.
Configure the session settings as follows:9600baud8data bitsNoparity1stop nonflowering controllable router's power cable into an electrical outlet, and as the 3925 boots, you should see the Cisco boot messages.

If you don't see any output on your computer's terminal session, check your settings on the session and restart itif necessary.
Press "Break" within 30 seconds of powering on the router to enter rommon (rom monitor) mode.

3.Type "confreg 0x2142" and press "Enter" at the "rommon1>" prompt. This will cause the router to boot from its internal flashmemory without loading the configuration into memory.
At the following"rommon 2>" prompt, type "reset" and press"Enter."
This will cause the router to reload and ignore thepreviously saved configuration file.

4.Respond "no" and press "Enter" when prompted for responsesto enter the initial dialog or basic management setup.
Type "enable"and press "Enter" at the following "Router>" prompt. This will put you into enable mode and display the "Router#" prompts.Copy the non-volatile memory into memory with the "copy start up-config running-config" command, followed by the "Enter" key. Type"sho run" at the prompt and press "Enter" to display the current configuration, including the passwords, some of which may be encrypted.

5.Type "config t" at the prompt and press "Enter." At the"Router(config)#" prompt, type "enable secret <pswd>"-- where "pswd" is the password -- and press "Enter." Atthis point, your enable password is reset. Press "Ctrl" +"z" to return to the "Router#" prompt.

6.Type "config t" at the "Router#" prompts and presses"Enter." At the "Router(config)#" prompt, type"config-register 0x02102" and press "Enter" to reset theboot register to its normal setting. Press "Ctrl" + "z" toleave configuration mode. Type "copy running-config startup-config"and press "Enter" to save your changes. Reboot the router and youshould be able to login with your password.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Leave the user name blank and enter the password admin ( admin once only ).

Try this.
If that doesn't work then search for the Cisco connect software on your main computer. You might have installed the cisco connect software on your main computer while installing your router.
If it is windows computer then cisco connect software might be under All Programs.
If is a MAC computer then cisco connect might be under Applications.

Open cisco connect software.
Click on router settings. You will see the router name and password. If you click on Advanced settings, it will open the setup page.

If nothing is working then you will need to reset the router and reconfigure it.
Remember once you reset the router, you will need to reconfigure it from the scratch.

I accidentally reset my wireless G WRT54g router, how can restore it?

Not unless you made a backup configuration file. So unfortunately you will need to reconfigure your wireless router. The main points you should configure are...
  • Change the default password to login to your router configuration
  • Change the SSID (optional)
  • Enable wireless security WPA2 / PSK (keep out unauthorized users)
You can configure it manually or download the utility from Linksys / Cisco website which will walk you through the configuration.
Comment back if you need help configuring it.

Bootup Router and then nothing

Hi,
Your router is in the wrong mode. You need to change this by changing the conf-register to 0x2102

at the rommon prompt type in

config-reg 0x2102

reboot

If there are any errors you can get the correct syntax by typing ? at the rommon prompt the line number will go up on every line.

The way to get into rommon mode is by pressing the break key from Hyperterminal as the router is rebooting. So make sure you don't do this by accident. If you do just reboot by power cycling.

Your Startup Config should be unchanged, but you need to be very careful what you do in rommon mode it is easy to blat stuff.

Any changes you make once you get into the command (enable) mode should be saved by
copy running-config startup-config

Any problems just let me know.

good feed back would be much appreciated.
