Clean out the coils real good make sure there is no dust and dirt that will cause it to cut off or not heat up

It would seem to me that the Thermal fuse has "Blown" this is an internal protection device that operate from heat... they often fail spontaneously, when this happens oftem all else works but no heat.
You will have to take it to a reputable repair shop/man and get a firm "Quote" for repair.
