I have a Konica Minolta 7022 and all my copies are coming out with dark lines. I have about 100,000 copies on it, so I don't think the drum needs replacing. I think it probably just needs to be cleaned. Is this something I can tackle myself? If so, what do I need t know? I have contacted a copier service that is going to charge me $200 for the cleaning- and that seems excessive to me.
Any advice you can give would be great.
Beings as it is close to 100k, it is due for a PM (preventative maintenance) kit to be installed (this model has a 100k PM cycle), and also a web, corona wires, charge grid, and feed rollers (if worn) should be replaced at this point, and of course cleaned.
The drum and developer "should" last 200k (this can vary greatly).
$200 for a general cleaning on that series machine... that's entirely too much, and he will most likely tell you it's due for a PM. A competent technician would be able to install the kit, replace the above parts in under 2 hours easily.
I wish I could be of more help, but given that is almost at the end of its PM cycle, it could be anything.
The PM kit for that machine is pretty basic, it's just fuser unit parts.
The PM kit part number D26WEPM100 / 950-256 is $195
Web part number 26NA53432 $29.95
Grid part number 26NA25160 $49
These prices are from www.precisionroller.com
You can probably find them cheaper elsewhere (or even non-Konica parts), but I use these guys a lot, and they always have items in stock.
The corona wires can vary in price, as do the feed rollers, depending if they bought them in bulk or not.

They are appearing both places with use of document feeder and glass.
They Can't be rubbed off. They are grainy and sometimes they appear darker than other times. Sometimes it's just one line other times its several.
What kind of money should I be looking to spend for the PM Kit?
Thank you for all your help.
I have a line in the middle of all received faxes, tried to clean with cloth, problem not resolved.
Sorry for all the questions, but this will aid in troubleshooting.
These dark lines, do they appear "grainy" and can be rubbed off of the copies?
Are the lines only appearing when using the document feeder, or also when using the glass?
