Maytag Neptune gas dryer. Lint-free. 4-1/2 years old. Good air flow. Burner only stays on for 5 seconds. Takes forever to dry a normal load and not getting hot. Temp is on normal. Time dry or automatic. Do I have a bad thermostat.

Hi, sounds like a plugged vent. Pull the dryer out from the wall and disconnect the vent.Clean out any lint and make sure you have good airflow to the outside.

I dont know why my neptune dryer takes forever to dry a load of clothes..Appox hours

Check to see if the vent hose is clogged, this will cause the dryer to work longer as there is no air flow.

My dryer runs but no heat.maytag neptune gas dryer.

Hi there,

Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.
2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes. Post comments for further help or information.....
Good Luck!!

Isn't heating up. takes forever to dry,

Disconnect the complete exhaust vent tubing and clean it out thorourghly. Then it will dry. There is a moister sensor in your dryer and when the lint builds up inside the vent tubing the sensor shuts off the burner to prevent fires from starting

Front load MDE2400AZW takes forever to dry stuff. A regular load takes 1 1/2 hrs to dry,but the heat is on, and it seems to work.

Make sure the lint trap in the door is clean. It has a plastic cover that opens. Disconnect the venting at the rear and run a load, if it works you have a restriction in the hose after the dryer or in the wall past the hose.

Gas burner only stays on for 5 seconds off 1 to 2 min.taks two hours dry clothes

No air flow. Blocked venting , Blower wheel broken or cloged. Check to see if the air is blowing out side at your vent. If your ingitor comes back on but no flame your gas coils are no good.

Maytag Neptune Dryer taking hours to dry a load

Hello Friend, Your solution is simple. It sounds like your dryer is working properly, and your actual problem is a blockage somewhere in your 4 inch exhaust tubing. Check it and make sure it is not clogged up with excessive lint. Also if your tubing is clear you need to check your connection where it travels thru the wall etc. It would be a good idea to find the actual location where it exits to the ouside and check for good airflow. Your dryer is equiped with a safety thermistat and if you are not getting the proper exhaust flow the burner will cut off and restart in the manner that your's is doing. I Hope I have helped you, Tim. And please don't forget to give me your rating for my help.

Takes long to dry

Hello,

The reason the dryer takes longer to dry is due to inadequate air-flow.

Very common problem. You need to call a
duct cleaning company and tell them to clean
your dryer vent. Rule-of-thumb: dryer vents
should be cleaned every couple of years to
prevent them from being clogged with lint and
causing lint fires. This is definitely your problem.
Good luck :)

p.s. one way to verify a clogged vent is
to go outside where the vent exits the house
and feel the air-flow. should have adequate air-flow.

Maytag Neptune Dryer is taking over an hour to dry a load

Check the exhaust vent out back of dryer to see if exhaust pipe going outside is crimped or blocked. Let me know if air flow is better if pipe is pulled off back of dryer. Thanks, Sea Breeze
