put the camera in play mode as in your viewing a pic. Push the menu button go right to the bottom and you see a toolbox select this and the second option down is language settings ... tada.....bobs ya uncle :@)

English is in there...you'll have to scroll through the menu and all the sub-menus (I know....it's tedious) until you find the word "english"...when you do, click ok/select/menu and your language will change to english.

Researched this extensively. you cannot change the camera to english. sony camera's bought in japan (or from the internet from japanese suppliers are not multi language. they supply a japanese version and an international version. the japanese version is cheaper (nationalistic thing). there is no firmware either to upgrade it. best thing to do is download the manual and become familiar with it.
