Thanks for your suggestion. It's an 8GB SD card... think it's a pretty good one (I'm not v.techy). I even deleted all photos to see if it was the memory!

It might be telling you that the card you have in the camera isn't fast enough to keep up with the demands of a video recording. You need to buy a more expensive card with a faster speed rating.

Deleting pics from the card doesn't open up space on the card. It just gives permission for the camera to overwrite the data with new data. You actually need to format the card in the camera. Also, you need a class 6 or above with a write speed of 10 MB or faster to record video in HD, WVGA, or VGA. 8 GB is just the size of the card, not the speed.

Find_serial_number_lumix_camera box

I have a Lumix FZ8.( Assuming the formatting of both boxes are the same) There should be a white coding label on the side of the box; The top code is the model# ,the middle code is the serial#, and the bottom is the UPC (universal product code)

I have panasonic lumix DMC ZX1. when trying to take pictures it says pictures will be stored in inbuilt memory inspite sd card being inserted in right place and empty.

Welcome to FixYa.

Before using the memory card, it should be fromatted. Possible reason is memory card is not yet formatted for camera use.

*Note: Use the camera itself when formatiing the camera. Using PC's or another camera in formatting the memory card may cause a "CARD ERROR" message.

If the switch on the card is set to "LOCK"; operations such as formatting, recording and deleting cannot be performed.

Please let me know if you have any questions and if this solution was helpful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

In playback/review mode of photos, only some appear while others are blank. All photos are present when uploaded to the computer or displayed at a photo kiosk, but only intermittent photos can be reviewed...

If, after viewing the pics on a computer, you don't use the "safely remove hardware" function before pulling out the cord/card, the files on the card may become corrupted and not recognized by the camera anymore.

Uploading MTS files from the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7

Are the videos in AVCHD Lite or Motion JPEG? Most computers can't handle AVCHD.....most of the time, you can only play them on an HD tv.
