I needed new batteries for remote. I put them in, and TV has come on, but I cannot change the channel at all, or put the volume up or down, at all. It just stays on the same channel.
When the batteries would nopt work, I pressed a few buttons on the right side of TV, like "power" and "channels" and "volume." However, I do not think I did anything wrong. There must be a "button" I need to press or a certain "thing" to do to the remote, or TV. I even pulled the plug out of the wall, then placed it back in. It did no good. The TV is only less than one-year old. I do not know who the "PARENT" Company is that 'OWNS" MINTEK. It MIGHT be HP(Hewlett-Packard)....I DO know that Isaw another TV on one day, and it had the same EXACT remote...the placement of the buttons, and the color.....It was called "INITIAL" TV.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME , PLEASE? I AM "DISABLED" AND THE TV IS MY LIFE...ESPECIALLY DURING THE NIGHTTIME WHEN I AM IN PAIN, AND I AM UP, WATCHING IT. I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANKYOU SO MUCH. EVEN IF YOU HAD A TELEPHONE # FOR "MINTEK." THANKYOU.

Still, when I turned it on, the same channel is on, I cannot use the Volume OR Channel controls...they just will not move, or show up on the TV! I cannot understand it! The TV has been terrific, up until now, and has a beautiful picture.
I do not know what has happened, but, I also appreciate, very much, the telephone number you gave me to call "Mintek." I hope they are still in business! I had gotten the TV from QVC TV, and they are usually very good about their products, themselves. If, for any reason, I have no luck with "Mintek", I will call QVC and tell their Customer Service Dept. about the problem. I guess I won't be watching it with the channels I want for quite a while.....unless "Mintek" is able to help me, over the telephone.

There seems to be alot of the same problems with this tv. you can try leaving it unplugged for 30 mins and leave the batteries out of the remote for 15 mins to see if that would work. i found a # you can call for mintek products 1800-838-3315.

Just contacted QVC and was told by customer no service that they had no information at all on Mintek. Furthermore, I was told that the warranty would be covered by Mintek and not QVC. I must say I did find that a bit suprising. I expect better of QVC. Purchased the same model in November of 06. None of the buttons on the TV will repsond and it has a dvd it won't eject. If I have to pay for service that's fine, but I'd at least like to try to see if it's still under warranty.

I'm assuming you have Cablevision. This is becoming a known problem with their broadcasting system. They have been upgrading and it has been causing the TVs to freeze up on a specific channel .
Simple way to fix it: 1. Unplug tv 2. Unplug coax from tv 3. Plug tv back in 4. In the Menu go to Setup > CH setup > CH Memory > Cable (digital) 5. Enable channel skip for channel that it is currently stuck on 6. Push Menu to exit 7. Change to any other channel 8. Reconnect coax to tv.
Followup: Avoid this channel and go give Cablevision a call and let them know about it. They won't do anything to fix it until they get a certain number of reported issues about the problem
Turn on the TV, and the Direct TV receiver, then press MENU on the remote, go to the bottom and select PARENTAL, FAVs and SET UP(press the select button in the remote), then go to SET UP and press select, then go to REMOTE, there you will see all the steps to program your Direct TV remote not only for the tv, the dvd player and the home theater as well. Also you will see ALL the codes for a lot of brands of devices including your TV brand. NOTE: don't go to option on the remote that says "RF/IR", you don't need to adjust that.
Check if the remote is in TV position, that is, because most of the remote controllers have the feature that you can program them for use with another devices. Make shure that one button that says "TV" in pressed and released once before you try to change any function on the TV.
As far as I know, no regular universal remote will work with the mintek TV/DVD's.
I have heard that the "Kameleon" remote, from radioshack works with them.
I had the same problem, so I ordered a replacement original remote from ebay for $20. It was the RC-600 for mine (DTV-265 26" LCD/DVD)
