I have a used Nortel Networks T7316E and for some reason when I plug it in to the phone line at home I get no dial tone and the light at the top and the three buttons on the bottom (headset)(Mute) etc... are flashing red.. and as long as i have it plugged in it ties up my phone line so if i pick up another handset im my house it just gives that noise like you left the phone on for a long time.... I think that if I can delete all the programming for the store that it was in previously then it would work but i don't know...please help..!

There is a mute button on the phone. It is located under the volume control button.1st button of three to the left. It is also possible your handset to the phone has gone bad.

If Ring Again is activated when the dialed extension is ringing, you will be notified when there is activity on the phone and the phone becomes idle. You cannot use this feature on outside lines, and while your phone is idle.

It\'s in system programming: feature CONFIG, Terminals & Sets, enter ext #, Prime Line: set to I/C (for intercom dial tone) or Line xxx. It is probably set to None based on your description.

Follow this instructions to reset the Administrator password.

Press Feature 985 and dial 9 even though it is not listed as an option.

The display will show Pswd: dial 73738767793

The display will show Reset pswd? Press YES.

You should now be able to enter the default password.

2 digit extensions use 120000

3 digit extensions use 1020000

4 digit extensions use 10020000

Feb 27, 2010- Speed dial numbers 001 -255 (256-279 are personal speed dial entries) are system wide speed dial numbers and are changed in system programming. System programming is done on M7310,M7324 and T7316 set only.
Enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say Terminals&Sets.
The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the next key 3 times(bottom right arrow).
The display should say Sys speed dial.
Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should say speed dial#:--
enter in the speed dial number you wish to program.
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display should show the existing speed dial number
Press the chg key
Enter in new telephone number
press ok when finished
repeat for remaining speed dials
Press the release key when finished

With caller on phone, press the conference button. You will get intercom dial tone. DIal another extension or grab a line and dial another cell number. When connected, press "conference" again, and you will all be together.

No, the T7316 set is digital, this is the reason why you cannot just take it home and have it work. Two different styles of signalling. The T7316 set only works with Nortel Systems.
