DGB-550BK Filter basket won't stay shut when either brewing ground coffee or grinding beans.. With the ground; the basket pops open mid brew and makes a mess everywhere. When grinding beans, I've noticed the basket usually pops open either towards the end of the grind cycle or mid-way thru brewing..

Not a solution but...

Many folks have reported this, the latching mechanism wears out eventually.
We had the problem but discovered that the door on the basket wasn't getting completely closed. Now I make sure it's closed and haven't had any problem since.
Hope this solves your issue - if not, keep an eye on yard sales, we picked up two at different times for $5 and now have parts to swap out - not much help for a failed latch though.
Glad I never paid full price for it, even though it's a fairly good grinder/brewer.

Ground coffee does not get wet

try to fill the reservoir with the water to the top, when the water starts "brewing" the water is transfer from this reservoir to the basket where there is loose coffee placed over the paper bag that will filter the coffee to the jar.
Check if anything is blocking the canal, that is transferring the water from the reservoir to the basket.

My cuisinart grind and brew model dgb-700bc shuts off right before it is done brewing and i am getting coffee grounds in my coffee pot

Too much grounds or not running through fast enough. Right filters? basket flow hole vlesr? Sounds like it's backing up and flooding causing the grounds to get by yje filter. If you dare, **** the hole out just a tad. with the end of a sharp knife. not too much. You can always take out mor. This is called consuner calibration. Good Luck -Ned-

Filter Basket pops open while grinding and brewing

Put the handle to the basket, that holds the coffee grounds toward the front.  If it is not facing front it will pop open.

Condensation- Cuisinart coffeemaker DGB-300

The condensation is normal, not just with this Cuisinart Grind n Brew, but with ALL Cuisinart Grind n Brews - because of this, you will really need to clean it after every use if you want the grinder portion to last long. As far as the bean amt - Cuisinart bases it's reccomendations on a smaller-than-normal coffee cup size of 5 ozs or so. Plus, the condensation, as you mentioned, will prevent a certain portion of the grinds from flowing to the brew/filter basket. Add more beans or less water to make a stronger cup.

Grind and Brew thermal (model CUI DGB 600BC)coffee filter cup hard to open, now won't close. Cup where beans are added, bean cup difficult to open as well. Need to find repair place near zip code 95127.

That problem is endemic to this grind and brew only - find out if you are still in warranty - try and get a DGB-550BK as a replacement - the 600 is the only one with this problem. Replacing it with the same model will likely lead to the same result.
Here is the basic troubleshooting for the Cuisinart coffee makers:
Make sure all baskets are in proper place – especially if unit is beeping.
Do not use a paper and a gold-tone or other permanent filter at the same time.
Unplug for LONGER THAN 15 full minutes to reset.
Clean by brewing 2 oz of distilled white vinegar/2 oz water.
If these methods fail, the unit probably requires replacement – call Cuisinart as they have a longer-than-standard warranty.

Machine shuts off after beans are ground & sometimes when pot is 1/4 full

You have not missed anything. Unplugging for longer than 16 minutes (has 15-minute memory) is the only troubleshooting you can perform. Call Cuisinart to find out if you are still in warranty. Serial number is engraved onto the very bottom of the coffee maker - hard to read. All electronics have a failure rate. Cuisinart's is acceptably low, but their coffee makers are the least reliable of all their products. The basic problem with electronic coffee makers is that coffee makers produce high heat, and high heat kills electronics and melts plastic. At least Cuisinart has a 3-year warranty - higher than the industry standard.

Let me put it another way. All coffee makers have a high failure rate. As many Cuisinart coffee makers that break down, the non-Grind-and-Brews still have a 91 rating from Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports doesn't give ANYTHING a 91 rating. A lot break, but you probably won't fare much better by switching to a different brand. The problem with a Cuisinart breaking down is that an expensive unit broke down - you wouldn't be upset if your $15 Mr. Coffee broke every year. The law of averages is on your side - a 2nd Cuisinart will probably last longer.

Filter basket pops open after grinding GROUNDS AND WATER EVERYWHERE!!!!

I had that problem a few times. When the door is open and the basket is removed I pushed in and held the release button while I cleaned that little hook area that holds the pop out tray in place. I just used a paper towel and nicely warm water. Works fine afterwords. I try to clean this at least every week.
