Cannon MP500, new ink now printing black line on back page

I just replaced the big black ink tank, with an Office Max compatible ink, it is now printing an 1/4" black line down the center of the back side of the paper. I am wondering if this is ink draining out of the tank?

This is only the second Office Max compatible ink I have used.

So now that I have this problem of every paper coming out with the black line on the back, how can I clean it out?

Got to Printers and Faxes in Start, Right click on the icon for the printer, click properties, click maintenance and try cleaning the backing plate from there.

I replaced with a new black ink cartridge for my cannon 310 and i get a col ink volumn message and it wont print , the first sheet goes through with no print and the second sheet jams. What can I do

Jamming is surely not related to ink replacement, however the blank page may indicate there is dried ink blocking the stream of the new one since you are probably not able to clean the path of the ink i highly reccomend to call the local service technician or replace the related parts on your if you have possibility to do so.

I have a Cannon Pixma MP500. It doesn't recognize the Y8 ink tank. And I am unable to print or scan anything even in black and white..

If the error you get is "The following ink tank cannot be recognized" have a read here on Canon support website on how to fix it, they have visuals as well http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/8000138710.html

When printing on my Canon Pixma MP500, there is a dark black line down the middle of the page. As the pages print, it gets lighter and lighter, but is very dark on the first one. Any thoughts?

Ink tends to overflow at the bottom guide rollers and the roller gets coverd in ink and causes the black line! The best will be to take it to a dealer and have it cleaned!Good Luck!

Cannon Pixma MP500- I get a solid black line on the reverse side of a printed page. Went through all the cleaning procedures and new cartridge, no change.

For some reason, the printer is designed to dump ink into the bottom of the tray before feeding on the paper. The paper is then dragged over the ink, leaving the black line. This is a software issue, not a hardware one. I'd advise that you update all of your print drivers, as well as your firmware.

A temporary fix is to clean the rollers and base plate of the printer for ink spills.

Check for any bits of paper or debris that may be caught in the printer. Be careful to feed in the paper perfectly straight, as this printer does not have good rollers, and it will cause paper to break off and cause problems. If any debris has caught or absorbed ink, it will cause the back of the paper to smudge, and you have black lines.

Our Cannon MP 500 is leaving a 1/4" wide black streak on the back side of copies. I have cleaned off the cartridge heads, replaced the ink tanks cleaned the heads to no avail. What is the problem and how...

HI Foster,
The problem is not with the print head. Print a blank page and if you are still getting the streak. Something is probably trapped in the printer or the rollers are dirty.
