While baking cookies at 350 there was a loud buzzing and then an electrical smell. Then the oven began to heat rapidly and would not stop. I turned off the breaker and assume this is a burned out thermostat? Frigidaire Elite
I removed the EOC (Electonic Oven Controls) or ECB (Electronic Control Board) and then removed the covers to the two relays that are mounted on it. Sure enough they were burnt-up. You cannot buy the relays separately, so a new EOC board costs about $225.00 (got the same price from several retail suppliers in the area) and can take anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks to be shipped in. This oven is 20 years old.
I went to best buy and bought an oven for $389.00. It is being delivered tomorrow.

If the oven won't turn off the oven thermostat is often the cause of the problem. The electrical contacts inside the oven thermostat can weld themselves together and then the oven won't turn off. If this happens, turn off power to the entire appliance at the household circuit breaker or fuse. The oven thermostat usually cannot be tested and must be replaced if defective.
Oven Control Board
The oven control board has a set of relays that turn on and off power to the bake and broil circuits according to the customer settings and sensor input. If the oven won't turn off it could be that one of the relays on the oven control board is shorted closed, providing voltage to the heating circuit. It can be dangerous if the oven won't turn off. Don't leave the oven unattended without turning off power to the oven.
Relay board:
Some ovens are equipped with a relay board. This circuit board has several relays which control the switching of electrical current to the oven heat source. If the oven won't turn off it may be that one or more of the relays on the relay board have failed. If this happens replace the relay board. The relays on the board are not sold separately. ALSO CHECK THE BAKE AND BROIL ELEMENT.
Hi, Two racks never bake as evenly as one unless you use the fan inside the oven if you have one...The fan will also shorten the baking times... The other thing that I would check is to make sure that the lower element in your oven is not blown and you are heating with the top element only...
check the bake (lower) element, mine just went out. It was easy to spot the problem once I pulled the element out, the wire had burnt off the end. Please remember to turn the power off first.
does the bake element come on at all? if so, try the oven out. do a bake @ 350 allow it to pre-heat, and see if once the pre-heat is comlete, id the broil shuts off. on many ovens at the beginning of the cycle during pre-heat both bake and broil elements are powered.
other than that it may be a control board, or a burnt and crossed wire in the harness.
Hi, If your electric oven is not heating then you probably have a bad heating element in your oven. This is not that hard to fix yourself... Check out this tip that I wrote about the Oven not heating problem..
