Yes, it's a real challenge! You can't help thinking something's going to break, but it will go on. For illustrated guidance, go to www.dysonmedic.com then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "DC07 belt and brushroll replacement guide".

Replace belt

On that Eureka Canister, you're going to want to unscrew the cover on the base of the vacuum in order to gain access to the brushroll and belt. That vacuum takes a type EXT-U belt. Remove the brushroll and the old belt and stretch the new belt on using the brushroll. Click it into place and secure the cover back on.

The brush bar will not spin. The belts melt when I turn it on and the belt drive is hot to touch with smoke coming out.

The belt is rubbing the foot plate.Check to see if the foot plate is damaged.Allso check the bearings in the brush bar are free and spin without the belt on.If you cant spin the brush bar by hand with the belt not attached then your bearings are seized.Get a new brush bar

When selecting the carpet cleaning mode, it appears the belt is slipping (due to the noise) over the drive pulley. How do you access the drive mechanism to replace belt or inspect drive pulley and belt...

On those units you must replace the clutch assy. you cant just replace the belt. there is also a special tool used to get the new belts on the brushbar. If you would like me to walk you through this repair let me know.

can you turn the brush by hand? if it turns real freely the belt is broke or the brush siezed up make sure there isn't any carpet strans wrapped around the ends of the brush otherwise the brush won't turn.if its the belt make sure you clean the motor shaft before you put on the new belt, the old rubber from the old belt will make the new belt run unevevly and break again..good luck

MY VACUUM IS NOT PICKING UP

Hi This is quite complicated but I'll try and simplify this for you:
If this is a Panasonic upright then there are two drive belts as you know. Once you take off the sole plate (where the beater bar is) by undoing screws and the beater bar is looking at you, you would have to take off the smaller belt motor pulley first before putting on a new larger drive belt. If the smaller belt is still intact and you only need to replace the larger belt, you'll still have to take off both belts to put on the new drive belt.
Motor pulley belt has to be taken off first then the old drive belt, then grasp the beater and slide on new larger drive belt before having to attach the motor pulley belt and then the larger belt onto the motor pulley. Once all belts have been attached ensure that the beater bar is pushed in correctly before you screw the sole plate back on.

Cant replace belt on dysonDC07

It is difficult to replace the belt yourself and you need a special tool to access and remove the clutch (the belt sits around the clutch and the brushbar). The best solution is to call the Dyson Helpline, they will refer you to an authorized repair dealer in your area who will be able to refit a new belt for you.

My belt broke on my kirby upright, I took the roller off and put the new belt on, but I cant get the hook to hook on the belt.

On the front of the nozzle is a big knob that you turn to load the belt. Take the nozzle of of the vac, turn the knob to catch the belt, keep turning it until it stops. You will know if the it caught the belt, it will be hard to turn. Put the nozzle back on, lock, then turn the knob in the other direction releasing the belt unto the pulley.

Belt replacement

Hi.

You are correct there are 2 belts.
They can be tricky to replace most shops will state they cant be replaced & you require new clutch.
So try this site http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/ for manuals on how to remove clutch unit & replace both belts they are very good with lots of high quality pics.
