IPod mini battery dies when nearly fully charged, often while skipping songs.
I have a second generation iPod mini. For a few months now, my iPod would die on me when I attempted to skip songs, usually every other time I turned it on. The battery indicator always showed that I had at least 3/4 of a battery when it would give me the message "No battery power remains," etc. I followed Apple's instructions to do the battery life test, and came up with less than 7 hours and 11 hours in two tests when playing one cd on repeat. However, my iPod still dies on me after these tests. Yesterday, my fully charged iPod was on for literally, 6 seconds, and without skipping a song, I saw the warning that the battery was low, and soon after the iPod died. Does anyone have any suggestions for me as to how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

I had bought a dock for my green ipod mini, and my ipod would be fully charged, and i would use it, and then 5 min. later, the ipod would die.. I figured out that I wasn't using it enough, and it was getting 'over-charged' (as i would put it)
I had this problem this morning, ie skipping from song to song, and it is new. I connected it, and reset it, from iTunes on my Mac, as they suggested. Then re-synched - it seems to have fixed it. Hope this helps.
I've called Apple support on this before. They told me to make sure that the Ipod is set for Manually manage music in the Ipod settings of ITunes. You should restore all software in your IPod to factory settings before doing this.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press
and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the
Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this
step.
Tip: If you are having
difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the
finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click
wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the
outside of the click wheel, and not near the center. If the above
steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the
power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your
computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to
sleep.

turn every program but itunes off. your firewall is interrupting your sync. close all programs or turn off your anti-virus and firewall so nothing can interrupt. keep me posted with results.
