Sony Bravia has colored vertical lines and the bottom picture looks like it is cracked although there is no crack on the actual screen. The sounds is fine but the picture color is off now too. The tv wasnt dropped or anything but a shelf fell off the wall adjacent to the TV. Can a loud noise like that cause picture problems with my screen?

Unfortunately in most cases the cost to repair the tv is not worth it. The replacement panel plus the labor in most cases cost's more than what the tv cost you to buy. You can call Sony if you are intrested in the cost of the panel. 1-800-222-7669

Press menu button on the TV if the on screen display is also distorted or no pic the TV is definetely defective. You can try unpluuging from wall for about 15 minutes and see if reset helps if not problem is either main p.c.b , LCD panel , LVDS cable or Power supply board. and would require service. most likely problem would be bad connection at or defective LVDS cable that connects main p.c.b to Panel (cheapest fix) or defective main p.c.b. If it is the panel it would probably not be worth repairing and you may want to sell as is on ebay.

Typically the replacement panel is too expensive to replace. If you can update this with the model number of the set, I will post the part number and cost so you can make your own decision.

Thanks,
Dan

Sony Bravia TV vertical lines

Hi,

please run a channel scan on your tv before checking for the issue again. If the issue persists, please remove all accessories from the tv before restarting it. If necessary, you can then power cycle the tv. Otherwise, you can move onto running a factory reset on your Sony tv.

Thank you.

NEED TO KNOW IS IT WORTH FIXING A CRACK SCREEN NO PICTURE COLOR LINES.

You have to take it into a shop and the cost will be more than a new set. You cannot buy a screen that big and install it yourself.

No picture, only colored vertical lines

Settings. It sounds like the convergence. It needs to be adjusted. Have had this problem before. A lot of people actually throw there TVA away because they have this problem and they think its broken, when its usually just a simple fix of adjusting the convergence. You have to make sure the little box, on the convergence settings is in the middle. Hope it fixes ur problem. :)

Vertical line on teh left side of the screen

It definately looks like a mechanical defect with the screen. If you see the line when the set is shut off this means that the screen may have a crack in it, or there is a defect in the substrate.

This type of fault is fixed by replacing the screen assembly. The cost of this would not be worth it.

CRACK LCD TV SCREEN

I don't have a listing for your model, but it is not unusual for the panel to cost more than a replacement set. As another example, the replacement tube (CRT) for a 27" Sony set can easily be $700. This was when these sets were being sold for $350!! Parts is where these companies rake in big profits. Don't blame the servicer for this one.

Sorry about the bad news.
