My nav 2100 was on then just went off, now it won't turn on at all. Tried the reset button then the power button of which it powers up for approx 3 seconds then goes off again.tried this a number of times no change still not working.
Hello,
The first thing to check is the power adapter output. It may be plugged in but still not putting out any voltage. Use a multimeter set to DC volts and check for a reading of 5volts. Another thing to try is take the unit inside by your computer and use the sync cable that came with it to connect to the PC, this cable will also charge the unit. If the charge light comes on then try powering it up after a few minutes. If both of these don't solve the problem then the next thing to check is the power plug in the GPS unit. You will need to pop the back of of the unit and make sure it is still soldered to the board, if not then you will have to resolder it or get someone to repair it for you. If you need it serviced for this type of problem we offer a repair service for your unit.

If it works while connected to an external USB supply (verified OK car adaptor, or computer), then the battery has probably failed. You should replace it sooner rather than later as extended usage with a dud battery will lead to failure of the internal charging circuit. (Happened to me!)
If it doesn't work on an external supply for more than those 3 seconds, then you're probably only seeing the dregs remaining in the battery. The USB connector has probably come adrift through flexing of the plug. It is very fine work to replace it - and repair any broken tracks. If this is the case, you really need someone with the appropriate tools/skills to work on it.
