    Hi Macinblack,

As per your suggestion, after I press the 'program' button I am prompted to enter a Program No?.... I am then able to press *, however only once.

    Can you offer another solution?

Thank you very much I really appreciate it... ;)

    Hi Macinblack,

Unfortunately this has not helped. After I press Program, pressing the star button once or twice does nothing. Although after trying different combinations, I have gathered that if I press ## this enters into 'EXT DATA CLR' or #* which enters into 'F-KEY OPTION'...Can you try again?

    Thank you Macinblack :)

This is how I did it:
1. Press the 'Program' button 2. Then dial ** (star, star) 3. Enter the password (usually 1234) 4. Press 'Next' until you get to 'Ext Name' 5. Press 'Enter' 6. You will need to know the Extension Number of you phone, when you find out enter it (eg: 104 or whatever yours is) 7. Press 'Clear' to get rid of the old name then start entering the new name via the number keys. Note: If you keep cycling through the letter on each number you can get to lowercase or uppercase letters. 8. Press 'Enter' then you are all done... pick and hang up the handset.

How do I know which is the specific KX T7630 phone to program extension names on?

When you press PROGRAM ** on the right phone, it won't beep at you. By default, extension 101 is a programming phone. Access can be granted to any and all phones.

How can i change the extension numbers and names on kx-t7630

It requires access to system programs 003 and 004. That can be done from the extension authorized for programming, usually extension 101. There is no "swap" command and we usually move the hardware at the frame rather than in software, but you can do it if you find a vacant number. An example would be to swap 102 and 108 you make 102 some other extension, like 402, then make 108 102 and then 402 108. Yeah. Sure.

Anyway, the user's guide (UG) for your specific system (not the phone) has instructions for the System Manager that details how to program Extensions and Names.

To call out: Go off hook press an idle CO button-- Dial outside phone number. There is no need to dial "9".
