My keyboard doesnt workon my pavilion dv2500 hooked up another external keyboard and i'm using that

Hook an external keyboard to the laptop, if okay! replace the laptop keyboard. If no change check bios setting to make sure the laptop is not disabled, and reset bios to factory default.

You unfortunately have one of the HP laptops that had a bad video chip on the main board.

Hook a external monitor to the video output on the back of your laptop, if it works then you have a lcd issue with the laptop screen. Now if you have no change, the motherboard would be suspect. I recommend a professional look at it with an estimate.

Go to control panel and in both mouse and keyboard check to make sure that settings are correct. Sounds as if maybe that is your problem.If that doesnt work, go into control panel, system icon, delete both the mouse and keyboard from device manager, restart your computer and let the system reload the correct drivers for them. Next try hooking up an external mouse and see if it works properly now, if it does but the pad on your unit still doesnt it may need to be replaced.

It sounds like the inverter has failed. A small circuit board which lives under the lcd screen. While they are cheapish to buy, replacing them is risky as you have to dissasemble to screen itself. If, like you say, an external display works that rules out most other possibilties. The only other thing could be the screen itself. Bu it would only behave like that if it get smashed.

The keyboards on laptops are somewhat fragile, and would be the first thing that should be tried. They are not too hard to change, and relatively inexpensive, about $15 on ebay. You could plug in a external, USB keyboard to use temporarily too.

does the laptop plug in tightly to the power socket

if not the pavilion part to get the system power needs replacement

contact a local technician and state the power adapter plug-in on the motherboard needs replaced

these commonly go bad on pavilions

it should cost you less than 100usd to repair

or rma the laptop if you have warranty coverage left on the hp dv2500

To get the display on the TV . Please press Fn + F4 after connected TV to the Notebook using Svideo cable and the cable should be connected to the Svideo port of the Notebook.

If there is not display on the Notebook after the Svideo cable burns.
Then please perform the following steps.

= Power Drain =

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and Battery.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

If the issue persists then check whether the display is same on the external monitor.
