Low power I have a marine diesel engine that one day just started having a lack of power. The engine starts right up, idles well and doesn't appear to smoke anymore than it always has but it just has no power. The last time I took the boat out I could only get it up to about 1400 rpm and if I pushed the throttle further it bogged down and started to die, I back off and it continues running up to about 1400 rpm. This is not about a Pramac GBW30P Encl Diesel Genset w/Perkins Eng but they didn't have my product.

Hi ,
firstly i would do a full service on it , all filter and fluids , oil/coolant water, fuel filter(s) and air filters
pay attention to any water seperators , check all fuel line connectors and unions are tight and in good order ( drawing a small amount of air into the fuel system if often the cause of ''a lack of power '')
check your diesel as it absorbs moisture and can severley effect the running of an engine .
if this has no effect
get a rag /goggles and the right size open ended spanner and slacken each fuel injector nut whilst the engine is running , listen for the engine noise going down , if it dosent this means the injector is deffective ( might need replacing or cleaning ) do this to each injector in turn , be very careful as you do this , the diesel is at 200bar pressure and can injected you ( hence the rag )
a final one is the fuel lift pump may be deffective , they often partially work and starve the engine at maximum revs , depending on your engine this will be an electric one or driven directly from the engine block , just follow the fuel lines from your diesel tank ,.
hope this helps

My Range Rover 2.7 diesel starts but then chugs on a very low idle, no throttle response and black smoke, what could be wrong?

i'd suggest getting the cylinder compressions checked , black smoke indicates burning oil so could be piston rings , also that would explain lack of throttle response and low revs

The car dies at stop and idles rough at low rpm

OBD Tools 365 Days Shop
A rough engine idle can come from a variety of causes. During the winter months, cars may have a harder time starting and will shake when first turned on. This form of rough idle can easily be mistaken for other problems. Engine idle problems can also be attributed to malfunctioning components, such as spark plugs. Holes in the air intake valve can also cause a rough engine idle because of excessive amounts of air being drawn in.
The rough idle of an engine can signify a power loss in the car. This loss of power could lead to other problems, such as excessive gas consumption. This lack of power can also lead to additional wear on other parts of the car. Ignoring problems with the engine of can lead to a massive breakdown that will require you either to make costly repairs or replace the car entirely.

Vibrations during idling

which engine.??? never post lacking engine ,here is why.
1.3 L G13B I4
1.5 L G15A I4
1.6 L G16B I4
1.8 L J18A I4
1.8 L BP-ZE I4
1.9 L XUD9 diesel I4

Ill answer in the generic and for GAS engines. only.
that is illegal RPM, the ECU regulates it to 800 all the time
that means the ECU can not regulate the RPM now, for many reasons.
and sure it vibrates too low, that is normal for all 4cylinders to do that.
no bad engine mounts never lower RPM to 600, ever.
they dont control idle speed at all.
the #1 reason for most cars to idle too low are:
1: EGR leaks, (clean it)
2: ISC stuck closed (electric idle speed acututor dirty) clean it.
3: gross misfiring , caused by bad spark or bad fuel mix.
4: low compression on 1 or more cylinders (real low) Do compression test at WOT. throttle.

White smoke on a diesel when it just starts indicates low compression. Most likely excessive ring gap until some heat is generated to expand the block and pistons.. It's overhaul time.

My truck is blowing white smoke out the tail pipe and I have no power wont go but I can idle around its a 2055 f250 turbo diesel, 300000 kms...litterally just started doing this a couple days ago..now ...

White smoke for a diesel means air in the fuel system. You will have to start at the engine, I start at the line going to the fuel pump. Get some fuel in a can, remove the line to the supply side of the pump and put another line from the can to the pump. If it starts and doesn't smoke , then you have to work your way back to the tank and find the spot that is sucking air. If it doesn't start the I would replace the filter first, check again. There is a possibility that the injector pump is bad, but these don't usually throw white smoke. They just make the engine have very little power or no start.

Volvo 2003 marine diesel problem starting

It sounds like you need to vent the pipe before the fuel lift pump so the vent is open when the pump is off. That way the fuel can not siphon to the lower tank. Then you would need a valve in sync with the lift pump to close the vent so the pump can draw. Perhaps there is a lift pump with that feature built-in.

1992 gmc sierra turbo diesel starts and idles fine until warm up

It's time for a Italian tune up!

The blue smoke can be one of two thing.

oil drop from the valve stem (from engine head to cyclinders)
or
diesel soot collect inside the exhaust system.

===
I will take a 5-10 minutes high rpm (not redline) ran on the highway.
Pay close attention to the rear view mirror and look for black diesel soot.
=== I will use Diesel Cleen or similar product to condition the fuel. (keep moisture down)
Use the recommended amount of SEAFOAM oil additive to condition the valve stem seal/rubber parts.

I can not rule out excessive blown by.
Can you get a diesel compression tester?
When was the last valve adjustment?

Please post the actual odometer on the engine and I will follow up on it.
