My Presario simply would not power up, no response at all

My Presario simply would not power up, absolutely no click, noise, or response when pushing power button. Worked fine until then, shut down normal 12 hours earlier. Tried new outlet, all that. Any ideas?

Bypass the Power On switch, to see if the switch is bad, or the Power Supply. The switch is bypassed by using a jumper wire, and making a circuit for the Soft Power On. NOTE* There will be a tiny spark given when using this procedure. Advise using a dishwashing glove, or similar glove on the hand that holds the jumper wire. The jumper wire will have insulation on it also. In print it looks worse than it is. However, if I don't warn you beforehand, there is a chance that you may freak out. Do you wish to proceed? If you do, state so in a Comment. If the Power On switch is bad, using the jumper wire method, the Power Supply will come on. Power Supply doesn't come on? Power Supply is bad. It does happen. Most of the time due to the inside of the computer, and the power supply, is dirty.

Call your homeowners ins co. The control panels are most likely fried. Will need to be replaced.

It is a type of security system. Like you said all functions are turned off until you push button because battery is disconnected from system.

Looks like your power supply's failed. The green light on the back of your power supply is just a neon light that just confirms that the power lead is OK, it does not relate to the status of the power supply! Try powering it up with another power supply, or replacing the power supply.

if I understood correctly, you are trying to power on your laptop and nothing happens.

assuming that it worked before, try the follow:
1. try to turn it on with the power cord connected- if it works it means that your battery is dead
2. take out the battery and try to power it on with only the power cord
3. put back the battery and see if it works

Compaq Presario 2140 laptop won't turn on

I would first remove the battery and leave it unplugged and hold down the power button for 45 seconds. that does a system discharge of power. put the battery back in and try the power again. Write back if this does not resolve your issue.

Sleep mode

Depends how it is set-up. If it is just in standby then simply moving the mouse or pushing a key should work. If it is in hibernate, then you have to push the power button for it to power back on.

JVC DR-MH200SEK complete failure..

A clicking noise when there's a hard drive present usually does not bode well for the end user. This noise is lovingly known as the "click of death" and it's name says it all. I'm wondering if maybe the hard drive has gone and the JVC's error handler does not allow it to progress past POST while there is a hardware error present. My apologies, I know that this isn't a solution, but hopefully this will at least help answer some of your questions as to what's going on....keep in mind that this is ultimately a guess, however, based on what I do know about electronics hardware.

Sound turns off for Sony STR-DE875 amp

If you do not here a click as soon as the power is turned on, (note you must be in a very quite environment no noise absolutely to hear this) then the amplifier has blown output transistors which are pushing DC current to the speakers.
