This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible. Press the <OK> button to cancel the error. You will still be able to print for a short period. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.

Personally, I wouldn't do it myself, I'd inquire w/ Canon about how much it would cost to have it done first...

Canon mx310 printer has ink absorbor full message and will not print. how do we fix this?

Hi

Do you shocked this morning just to find out that Your "Waste Ink Absorber Full" on your Canon Printer? This warning made your printer useless because It cannot printing your works.

You have no money for service or change the waste ink absorber on your Canon. I know it could be very expensive. Don't Worry... I have something that maybe can help your problem. Take it Easy, it's FREE.

Canon Printer Motherboard System, will count how much time you had printing or change the ink tanks. After a couple of times your Canon System (Motherboard on your Printer) will stop your Printer because Canon think you waste ink absorber is FULL. So you need to replace your waste ink absorber to the new one. And It's Expensive For Me. But there is a trick to reset the counter on your Canon printer motherboard;

Step 1: Manual for Service mode (1st method). Using manual way ( but not really effective ), because sometimes your canon will prompt the "Message" again. Here's the trick:
Unplug POWER Cable.
PRESS and HOLD the POWER Button (While Disconnected From The Power Cord).
Connect the POWER Cable (Still Holding The POWER Button).
PRESS The Resume / Stop Button 4 Times while holding the POWER Button.
You'll see the Blinking Led Color keep changing from Orange to Green everytime you press the Resume / Stop Button.
Then Release The POWER Button.
Your printer will turn ON (It should not blinking anymore).
Step 2 : Using Software Tools (Reccomended), It can make your printer Permanent not showing the "Messages" again. Just Download Canon Series Resetter. Here's the Link :

Message about ink asorber full keeps appearing

When the printer is not being used, the print-heads slide to their "resting" position,
in order to keep the ink-jets moist, i.e., to NOT dry-out.

Some ink is absorbed into that INK-ABSORBER.

Now, after a few years of usage, that ink-absorber is "full".

Like taking-out the garbage from your kitchen waste-basket when it gets full, and replacing the full waste-basket with an empty waste-basket, it's time to get your printer serviced -- replace the "full" ink-absorber with an "empty" ink-absorber.

Note that CANON printers do not actually "measure" the fullness -- they electronically estimate the fullness, given information about how much you print, and how often you print, and the "density" of the pages that you do print (text is much less dense than colour-photos).

I own a canon w8200 pigment large format printer. I replaced two cartridges, Magenta and Yellow. The printer did a nozzle check that seemed to take too long. I then received a 'waste ink tank full'...

<Remedy>
1.Waste ink absorber
Use SERVICE MODE>COUNTER>PRINTER>W-INK to check the waste ink
absorber. Replace if the waste ink level is near the limit (14400).
After replacing the tank, perform SERVICE MODE>INITIALIZE>W-INK.

I keep getting this error message come up, 'The waste ink absorber is almost full - see manual'.what do I need to do as the manual doesnt give details.

According to the user's manual, "Ink used to clean the print head is absorbed by the waste ink tank. When this message is displayed, the waste ink tank needs to be replaced, or the machine requires maintenance". There is no information about how to replace or empty the waste ink tank.

In any case, you can try the following to clear upo the error, but eventually you'll need the waste tank to be emptied or replaced.

Turn on your MP130.
1) After that press: Menu - Scan - Copy - Scan or Menu-Copy-Scan-Copy-Copy in some models, it depends on the date it was produced)
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Enter NVRAM ACCESS
4) Select SET ABS-M LEVEL TO 0
5) Select OK
6) Keep selecting OK untill you leave the TEST MODE
Then turn it OFF and again ON. Check if the error message is still there

The following is taken from the Canon website, regarding this specific error:
"Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk."
As I mentioned before, I have not found any way or procedure to replace the waste ink absorber nor the necesary replacement part

Message" waste ink absorber"

There is an absorbent sponge in the bottom of your waste ink container to help contain the waste ink your printer generates when it cleans the print head nozzles. That sponge is probably full and has triggered a "most informative" error message!

Check your user's manual about the procedure for changing the absorber and where to buy new ones.

Waste tank absorber is almost full ~ message

I've taken this from my manual.
This error message indicates that the ink absorber is nearly full.
The machine has a built-in ink absorber to hold the ink used
during FINE Cartridge cleaning, for example.
You can continue printing by selecting Continue*1
on the display on your camera.
However, because printing is disabled once
the ink absorber becomes completely full
and until the ink absorber is replaced, you
are recommended to contact a Canon
service representative as early as possible.
*1 To resume printing, you can press
[OK] (MP180) / [Black] or [Color] (MP160) on
the machine instead of selecting [Continue].
