I need an outer screen for my TV Magnavox(51MP392H/17). Where can I purchase another screen?

You will need the original remote to perform a convergence touch up on Magnavox TV sets. If you are using the original remote - but still can't get it working - go back to the site where you purchased the tv repair kit and ask for their help

Actually I have this TV and you need 2 Convergence IC's STK392-120's (120's and 150's will work) of course order 2 of the same type I'm using replacement 150's they allow for a little higher heat and were cheaper ALSO you need to replace the 12 resistors with 6.8 ohm metal film resistors, make sure they are metal film! don’t skimp out here I did and then they blew and fried my IC's and I had to replace everything again!

set of star screw drivers
15 watt pencil solder pencil, DO NOT use a high watt iron you will fry the surface mounted item.
good leaded solder, and flux

Hello pkrocks

It looks like your convergence amplifiers have gone bad, this is a common problem. If your set uses the STK329-110 or STK329-xxx series of amplifier both of them will have to be replaced. There is a lot of information on fixya about how to do this yourself, but you have to be careful in removing and replacing the amplifiers and the associated bias resistors.

yes youre model will need two convergence ICs they are both STK392-120 and you will also need some 6.8 ohm resistors usually two or four resistors will need replacing as well. The site servicemanuals do have all the parts and they do provide free installation instructions with the ICs.

your only chance will be find one at the local repair shops that may have saved some from sets they have scraped out, But they are hard to come by, and phillips have them as no longer available as do most manufactures shortly after that model lines goes out of production. Also try www.craigslist.org as they have chapters all over the world and often people give away dead sets, you may get lucky and find one.

When I turn on my magnavox 51mp392h/17 the sound and picture works but there is a sizzling sound coming from inside of the tv I looked and the sound is coming from what looks like a coil it has 4 lines coming from it 3 of which go to the color projectors and one to what looks like a transformer. Can you help me out?
