GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 16, 2010

I have a GE Model JGBP265BEA1WH and the oven would not work. The broiler & stove top did. I replaced the ignitor and now both the oven and broiler do not work but the burners do. I tried to locate the gas shut off valve and checked behind the lower drawer and on the right behind the burners but cannot locate a level at either location. Any ideas? Thanks!ther bb

The burners and its components are totally seperate from oven and there is no controlling shared between them. The problem can be many. Can be the timer control that is locked and not allowing any oven functions. Can be the electricline feeding the oven portion. Can be the oven temp control that tells bake and broil to begin functioning. Can be oven lockout. This is a function that you can turn off by holding the clock or other pad button for 3 seconds. Check your manual to see if I am correct about which touch pad to hold. This is a safety feature that sometimes gets activated and there's no flashing lights telling you about it. Goodluck<Macgivor

I am not sure if I understand you; did you say the discovery of the shutdown fweature solved the problem? Then you say about holding + & - buttons and it (what is it ?) shut down and then on again. I will help you if you can clarify what you mean, or just tell me that all is ok now. Thanks, macgivor

Our GE profile oven model JGsp31wet1ww oven will not heat up. When i set the oven to say 400 degrees, it just stays at 100 and never heats up. The broiler seems to work fine and the stove top gas burners...

pull out the racks and remove the bottom floor of the oven, turn it on bake,if the ignitor doesn't glow most likely it's bad,if it does glow and it doesn't ignite within 40 to 60 seconds the ignitor is bad.even though it glows doesn't mean it's good,it works by amps.it takes 3.2 amps.for a flat ignitor to open the gas valve and 2.5 amps for a round ignitor to open the gas valve.

Stove top and broiler work Oven won't heat

the way to check this is to first see if ignitor comes on or put an amp clamp meter on it. the ignitor needs to draw 2.8 amps or more to engage the gas valve. if it doesnt lite or draw any amps at all. check voltage to bake ignitor. it will be the ignitor most likely. but the gas valve or control could be bad.

GE profile JGSP44 Oven stopped working

Ignitor needs to be working for the gas valve to open. If the ignitor does not reach the proper amp draw the gas valve will not open. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru performing an amp draw test on the ignitor.

GE Gas built in oven Model JRS14 will not heat up

The bake ignitor has failed.Turn off the gas supply. Remove the racks. Then remove the bottom pan cover in the oven to access the ignitor. Place a amp meter on one wire of the ignitor.Turn the BAKE switch on. If it reads less than 3 amps, replace the ignitor.

Oven wont light

Check the amp draw on the ignitor. If 2.9 amps or less, replace the ignitor. If 2.9 amps or more, replace the gas safety valve.

GSP31GER GE gas slide in oven dosent work

I think you missed a letter at the beginning of your model number. (it is maybe a JGSP31GER ?) I would first test the broil, and see if that works. (I would guess that it does) Most likely the oven ignitor (part number WB13K5058 ) needs to be replaced. It is located under the floor of the oven right next to the burner. It is a round electric coil thing about 4 inches long. If you want to confirm that this part is bad before replacing it, (and the broiler works) you can take the ignitor off the broiler and install it in place of the oven ignitor. They are the same part number. Of course now your broiler and self clean will not work unless you replace the broiler's ignitor. This is not too difficult, maybe a 3 on a scale of 1 - 10. Should be a Fix-Ya for your slide in range!
