I have a 2001 ranger 4.0 automatic w/od and 40k miles. When I try to set the cruise control the light on the dash flashes and goes out when I press the set button and doesn't hold speed. I tried the self diagnostic. I got flashes after every step and I could hear the servo on the unit move but I didn't get any flashes after the original test to diagnose and pinpoint the problem. I would appreciate any input you can give. Sincerely,
Bob Vieira

To ftw1952,
Thanks for the info i'll give it a try.
If there is a recall for my truck could you please tell me what it is and how to find it. My local dealer said there isn't one?
I went to the Ford dealer and asked about recalls for cruise control problems and they said there wern't any on my truck. They wanted to charge me $100.00 to diagnose it. I'm out of work and have better things to use the money on. Thanks for the help and time.
