HI, I AM HAVING 2 PROBLEMS WITH MY PHONE. 1. MY PHONE HAS GONE INTO SILENT MODE WHILST IN MY BAG OVERNIGHT, AND I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DE ACTIVATE IT. 2. I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE PC SUIT FOR MY PHONE FROM THE SAMSUNG WEBSITE, BUT IT JUST CRASHES MY LAP TOP. DO YOU KNOW OF ANOTHER PROGRAM WHICH I CAN DOWNLOAD IN ORDER TO GET MY PICTURES ETC? To turn off the ringtone:

Press and hold the Power key on the top of the phone, then tap Silent mode.
Press and hold the down the Volume key until the volume bar is empty and the Ringer volume icon has a x next to it.
To set the vibrating alert:

1.From the Home screen, find and tap Settings.
2.Tap Sound & display.
3.Mark the Phone vibrate checkbox.
Tip: When in silent mode, press the Volume key up once to activate the phone vibrate mode.

Do the opposite to turn it back on.

1. With the phone in standby, press and hold # on any handset. The phone prompts you to select the number of hours (1 - 9 or Always On) that you want it to stay in silent mode.

2. To confirm, press # or just wait about 5 seconds. The phone displays Silent
Mode On on each handset.

3. After the selected number of hours, the phone automatically exits silent
mode. To exit silent mode manually, press and hold # again.

Depends on the phone you are using , however generally there is way to remove your phone from silent mode as well as activate silent mode , please follow the below steps :-

1. When in idle mode, keep the # key pressed till the time it tells you general profile has been activated or normal profile has been activated.
2. If you press the # key again for a bit long time like 2 to 5 secs it will again go to silent mode.

Silence the tones your keypad makes when you press a key.

To enter Silent Mode:

In standby mode, press and hold . # button,“Entering Silent Mode” briefly appears in the display and your phone returns to standby mode

To exit Silent Mode:

While in Silent mode and standby mode, press and hold # button “Exit Silent Mode” briefly appears in the display and your phone returns to standby mode.


Adjust the Ringer:

1. In standby mode, press the volume key on the right side of the phone up or down. Options are:

Ringer Off
Vibrate
Low
Low/Medium
Medium
Medium/High
High
Vibrate/High

2. When you are satisfied with the setting, press OK.Your phone returns to standby mode.

hold in your # key,it will de-activate silent mode. its a toggle switch.

or by holding down the # key :) you may have changed the profile itself, so check under profiles > Silent check the settings in there are actually set to silent...

hi. if u look at the screen of your phone, you'll find a sound icon on the top left corner exactly below the network icon. just touch the sound icon with the tip of your first finger and keep it there for a few seconds. this is how you can activate or deactivate the sillent mode

Try pressing and holding the # key for a few seconds. This turns silent mode on and off with Samsung phones. If you're sure that silent mode is NOT on, and the phone still won't ring, you may need to seek getting the phone repaired. It could potentially be moisture that has gotten into the top 1/2 of the phone, shorting out the speaker, or the speaker could have just gone bad.

The # key is pressed for 2 seconds to switch your phone from Silent to General profiles. But it seems that on the software version v5 it's disabled. type this to check your version *#0000#
The solution:
Try to "downdate" back to version 4.71 or pressurise Nokia to rectify version 5.
