Hell There, We have a "legacy" GE hands free kichen" phone model: 26730GE1-D Yes, I know it's ancient, BUT I did put a fresh, brand new battery in last week and it rings, when piucked up reads out "waiting" and then drops the line...no dial tone, etc. Any ideas?

The calls are being placed on waiting, try using Flash button before using Talk.


Test the chance on a different phone line , the most likely is that the phone is defective.

If the phone is working on a different line, then it is a configuration problem, and the phone is waiting for a manual call transfer from a different phone in your network.


Try using Flash button instead of Talk, this will answer the call if there is a waiting service programmed.

Try testing with no other phone connected.

Finally try resetting the phone, use procedure below:

• 1. Make sure the phone power is ON (but not in the “talk” mode by pressing the PWR button.
• 2. Use the arrow buttons to scroll through the main menu until Handset setup is flashing.
• 3. Press the SELECT button. A second menu shows on the display.
• 4. Use the arrow buttons to scroll to Reset phone.
• 5. Press SELECT.
• 6. Use the arrow buttons to change NO to YES.
• 7. Press SELECT to confirm.

Hello, dont get upset first..
According to the manual, please have a check on the beep tone..
If it has 3 beeps after you push TALK button, it means the handset is out of the range. This problem may due to the location between handset and the base are too far. Or, it may due to the base is not powered. If the latter persists, please check the power cord and change it with a brand new cable when needed..
If it has 4 beeps, then the battery may need any replacement. So far, in my experience the battery could last till 5 years with normal usage.
