I have an HP M425 digital camera with a 1GB San Disk. Took a lot of pictures and it just simply conked out.WWhen turned on it says "Card has Wrong Format....Press OK to format card". When I do in fact press OK, it says "Unable to Format"...Help!!!
Just fixed this problem on a M525 camera (same physical construction).
Do a search with M525 and format.
I just had the same problem - all I did was remove an SD card (that had been in
the camera over a year with no problems) - and put it back in. Then when I turned
the camera on, a red screen appeared "Card had wrong format - press OK to format".
When I pressed 'OK' it said "Unable to format".
I tested the card in an external reader, and all the pictures were there.
I could offload them, and format the card just fine.
Solution:
What I found by peering down in the battery compartment with the card plugged
in, was that one of the gold contacts that that touches the pads on the card
seemed to protrude a little further out than the others, and looked just ever so
slightly twisted, as well. After removing the card, and looking down inside with
a very bright light, it appeared that contact finger had been bent over a bit when
I had reinserted the card. I used a fine metal dental tool with a tiny crook (less
than 1/16 inch) on the end to pull up on the contact from the center of where
it appeared bent, and sure enough, it straightened up to around a tenth of
an inch longer than it had been in its bent condition.
I reinserted the card carefully, observing all the time that the contact in question
was sliding up the side of the card with the pads on them, and not getting folded
under the leading edge of the card as I put it in.
Problem gone!

The HP site states that the M425 Camera was tested with SD cards from 16MB to 256MB. You need a High Speed SD memory card for anything beyond 256MB.

I'm having a lot of difficulties when I have a lot of picture taken and then I got stock when trying to save one by one or in a small group of them either into my desktop, or in my documents. One day I could and then I couldn't send it as an attachment in one E-mail.
